Online newspapers, especially the local ones, are now focusing on the developmental updates in the Guimaras Oil Spill. To spread the awareness on the 8-11 disaster, I will be posting the links to the news articles so that everyone will be updated (If only I have the time to write about it myself, sigh). Here’s the April 25 roundup (The links will open in a new page. Some of the links may not work, when the websites update new content. )

In hopes that the MT Solar 1 be removed from Guimaras waters, Task force Project Sunrise has posted in their website, a plea to concerned individuals to help pressure Petron into removing the said ship, that has so far discharged 200,000 liters of bunker fuel out of the 2.0 million liters it is carrying, by emailing your concerns to Petron: contactus@petron.com, mtong@petron.com, rrledesma@petron.com.
If left under 3000ft of sea water, the remaining bunker fuel will surely leak out, causing a disaster that could span the whole Visayan Sea, displacing the lives of millions! and devastating hundreds of kilometers of shoreline and marine biodiversity that will take decades (even centruries) to flourish again.

THE city government of Iloilo has been trying to cash in on the booming Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector as its “main product” to prospective investors but concerns on power supply are dampening the effort.
This was revealed by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Iloilo) provincial director Diosdado Cadena Jr. yesterday, citing the decision of the city government to adopt ICT as top project for the “One Town, One Product (OTOP)” program of the national government.
“We have complete facilities like fiber optics which is already in place and reliable. Added to this…is a large pool of human resources as the city is being considered an educational center,” Cadena explained.
Cadena said: “Iloilo City is producing some 16,000-18,000 graduates a year but sad to say, they are going out to look for work in other areas.”
