Drizzle fails to dampen festive mood at Dinagyang

LOILO CITY – Intermittent rain failed to dampen the festive mood of revelers in yesterday’s highlight of the Dinagyang Festival.

Music, revelers dominate Dinagyang celeb

Music literally livened Iloilo City over the weekend with concerts after concerts, shows after shows and street revelry dominating the celebration.

Iloilo eyes to regain title as RP’s top rice producer

The province of Iloilo aims this year to surpass Nueva Ecija as the number one rice producer in the country.

Luces in the Sky - Nationwide Fireworks Contest and Iloilo’s First Pyro Olympics

More than 50,000 came to watch the first pyro olympics to be held in Iloilo City. The event, which took place during the Dinagyang Festival on January 26, 2007 had SM City as the judging area. Not only was the parking lot of SM City jam packed, most people, who wanted to watch the grand fireworks contest, trooped to surrounding areas such as the open field of Brgy. San Rafael, the Old Airport Lot (now owned by Megaworld), and Smallville.

Chinese New Year 2008

Iloilo is distinguished as holding the second biggest celebration of the Chinese New Year after Manila. This Year of the Rat, the Chinese New Year will be celebrated on the 7th of February in the Downtown District of Iloilo (also known as Iloilo’s Chinatown). Many attractions and events are lined up during the event, which has grown into a major festival in the city.
