In a TNT interview yesterday, Captain Marquez further said he is even willing to act as the negotiator to willing takers. Understandably, he added, the NPA fighters fear for their lives both from the offensives and continued operation of the government and fear from within the communist party. “They can also surrender through their choice of local officials – their mayors, congressmen – and even the media. In the spirit of Christmas, we would certainly want them to spend the holidays with their families and take this time to have a new life,” Captain Marquez added. “In this regard, we call on other militant groups – Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Leage of Filipino Students - to do the same and offer a better life to our brothers and sisters in the mountains free from violence.” A special appeal was likewise made by Captain Marquez to minor and women NPAs. “In Panay there could be some 100 NPA fighters altogether. Crab mentality and being provincialistic will continue to drag us down in always being 'developing'. So what if Iloilo can overtake Bacolod in IT, it simply shows investors had seen the oppurtunities and big potencial of iloilo. Basi gusto mn nla ibaligya airport nla pra mpatindugan call center? I just noticed it when I read their news. It's either a high ranking officials always say "We have already surpassed Iloilo blah blah". I just don't know why. Iloilo City is the economic hub of Region VI and it's not a question anymore if Iloilo City is abundant in economic development. Bacolod City or Negros Occidental is part of the Western Visayas region, whatever economic success Iloilo will reap will be in the advantage or benefit of the region but not in Iloilo City alone. I hope colonial or crab mentality will not arise again and again....please stop comparing, rather make it a healthy competition that everybody will gain. Falling behind Iloilo in IT?
