Balaan Bukid
The province’s landmark, Balaan Bukid or Ave Maria Purisima Shrine on top of the mountain of the capital town Jordan, is a pilgrimage site of Catholic devotees specially during Holy Week. On top of the mountain is a large cross and a chapel. It offers a scenic view of Iloilo City across Guimaras Strait.
On regular days, Balaan Bukid can be accesses through a 15-min boat trip from Ortiz Port (Otriz St., Iloilo City) going to Jordan Port (Jordan, Guimaras).
There you can consult the ‘Department of Tourism Outpost’ and request the tourism personnel to help you find a tricycle for the 15 minute trip to the “foot” of Balaan Bukid.
You must then hike for 30min - 45 hour until you reach a breathtaking view of the city of Iloilo at the top.
