The Barotac Church, also called as the St. Anthony of Padua Church, was constructed in the 16th Century by Spanish Missionaries. It is a Neo-classical church that has Roman arches. Its facade has ionic pilasters, square columns above and Doric pilasters below.

Together with its convent, the Barotac Nuevo Church was declared by the National Historical Institute as a national historical landmark. Restoration plans to revive the church to its original beauty is already underway.

the vista reminds me of my one productive and meaningful stint in this great town. the magnificent scenes are matched by its wonderful people. i miss barotac nuevo and the people in it. my kisses and hellos.
16 years ago, this scene greeted me every morning every time i entered the athenian halls of st paul school. paulinians taught me how to teach.
nostalgic scene indeed. i can’t help but reminisce these awesome individuals: ms. ojario, ms. tanate, ms. bracamonte (librarian), ms peñafiel, ms. pacheco (so how many children do u hav now jul?), ms. bedia, ms. matillano (lourdes), mr. doctora (totong), mr. besana (edmund), mr. belluga (tonybell…so ano tony bati ko mapadalagan ka na senador….), manong george (the comedian/custodian), the sisters, ms. brillantes, ms. rhona, and too many to mention.
