There’s nothing like having a remarkable meal to add to your list of gastronomic adventures. At Bauhinia Resturant in Iloilo, there’s always a surprise every time you explore their menu. Bauhinia is where traditional Filipino dishes fuse with modern perspectives of preparing and serving Juan’s staple menu. On top of that great reason to visit Bauhinia is the restaurant’s great location in Iloilo’s rising entertainment center.

Bauhinia serves a variety of Filipino dishes from grilled chicken (inasal) and seafoods (bangus, squid, prawn, tanguigue) to delicious fusion foods such as binagoongang lechon kawali, kare-kare crispy pata, beef caldereta au gratin, bulalo steak, stuffed ampalaya con carne.

Bauhinia even took a step further by serving more unique foods such as sugpo sa aligue at sili (tiger prawns cooked in coconut-crab fat sauce), smoked tanguigue tacos, and embutidong bangus (smoked milk fish, select condiments and wrapped in banana leaves).

Another special section of their menu is their variety of Tinuom. Popularized in Cabatuan town, Tinuom is an Ilonggo style of cooking, wherein the main ingredient (shrimp, squid, or chicken) is wrapped in banana leaves and then slowly simmered in a special broth to bring out the natural flavor.

Bauhinia offers a clean and modern ambiance to complete your dining experience. The first and second floors are air-conditioned. There is also an alfresco area on the second floor for those who want to enjoy the fresh air while they enjoy their food. The prices in Bauhinia hover above what most would consider affordable (by Iloilo’s standard) but eating there wouldn’t make a gaping dent in your wallet. Their main courses cost from P150-P300+.
