What can you get from contributing to ExploreIloilo.com?

• Promote Iloilo in the web. ExploreIloilo.com is a good way to promote Iloilo in the web. Help me showcase the beauty of Iloilo to the world.
• Promote something you’re passionate about. If you know a lot about something and would like to share your knowledge, this is a good opportunity to do it. You can also post your advocacy or promote topics you feel deserves more attention. For example, if you love skateboarding, you can make a post about awesome spots in Iloilo to skate. If you’re into music, you can promote local bands here in Iloilo or post about the next gig happening in the city. If you’re an NGO, you can make a post about what your organization is all about and invite concerned people to join.
• Get yourself promoted too! Every post you make, your name will be displayed and give you a sort of “authority” in the subject you’re writing about. Your posts will also have a linkback, which is a great way to draw traffic if you have a blog and get a link from a PR3 website. Though, if you prefer to be anonymous, that’s okay too.
• Win new friends. ExploreIloilo.com is also a great way to interact with other people through comments. Your posts will also get some attention offline, if you’re able to attract the right people
• Earn Money from your posts. If you have a google adsense account, you can have your ads displayed in your posts.

Getting Started!

Thank you for your interest in contributing to ExploreIloilo.com. As you know, content is the most important element of a blog and I always welcome new stuff posted at Explore Iloilo whether it be posts or even comments (linkbacks are also really nice). Here’s some basic info you’ll need to register your account and start contributing.

You can find the links to register an account or log-in to your account at the bottom part of the sidebar as shown in the image below:

Registering your account

To register your account, just click the “Register” link in the Admin Area or just click here. Fill our the forms and click the register button. Initially all new accounts are added as a “Subscriber,” you must email me at exploreiloilo [at] gmail.com and inform me of your username so that I’ll upgrade your account to “Contributor” Status

• Note: your Biographical Info will be displayed in all your posts and in the About Us Page.

Log-in in to your account

You can also find the link to the log-in page at the Admin Area. Enter your username and password and click “Log-in.” This is what your dashboard looks like:

Writing New Posts

To write a new posts just click the “Add New” links in the posts box. You can then begin writing your posts. If you want to add an image you must host it in another website like photobucket.com or flickr.com and use the “HTML editor” to insert your image (I disabled uploading pictures in EI’s server to save on web space and file transfers). If you’re still confused on how it works, you can just email me the pictures and I’ll insert them for you before it is displayed in Explore Iloilo. Don’t worry about what categories/tags to file the post in just write the post and hit “Submit for Review.” You can contact me after you made the post so that I can review it and file it in its category/tags. I’ll then let you know when it is scheduled to be posted ^_^

Editing your Posts

If you want to edit your post, just go to the “Edit” link. If your post has not been published yet, it is most probably listed under “pending” posts.

Reminders and Additional Info

• Quality and Length of Posts: When I make my own posts, I usually write a minimum of two paragraphs. I’d like it if contributors also write two paragraphs or more for their posts.
• Type of Posts: Usually posts in Explore Iloilo are about news, development updates, editorials ,and travel/tourism articles related to Iloilo and other provinces in Western Visayas namely: Guimaras, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Negros Occidental. Posts on Ilonggo blogs, bloggers, or posts by Ilonggos or about Iloilo are also accepted. Political News and Too Negative stuff about Iloilo are not encouraged, people who like reading/writing about it already have newspapers and online forums for that :)
• You’re allowed to put in external links to the post. Just not too much, though.
• Earning through Google Adense. If you have an adsense account you can go to the “Your Adsense” page to learn more about how to integrate your ads into your posts.
