AirPhil Express Opens “Iloilo – Davao” Route

AirPhil Express, a popular budget airline in the Philippines, will be opening a new flight route between Iloilo and Davao starting August 18, 2011. It will be a once daily service utilizing an Airbus A320 plane. There’s actually a seat sale ongoing today (August 3, 2011) on Iloilo – Davao flight fares for as low as P488 (one-way). Cheapest regular (year-round) Iloilo – Davao Airphil Express fares cost P998 (one-way).

Iloilo Financial Profile 2009 – Income Ranking of Iloilo Towns

As Explore Iloilo’s yearly tradition, here’s the report on the 2009 Income of Iloilo Towns and Cities. Check out how much each town and city earned for the 2009 and their growth compared to the previous year. A Local Government Unit’s (LGU) income level makes a good indicator to get an idea of how big an LGU is and their capacity to fund big projects for their town. Bear in mind though, that there are also many factors that contribute to a large income like population and land area since the national government allots a bigger budget (IRA) to cities with more population and land area.

In review, all of the “wealthiest” towns in Iloilo except Pavia (listed below) are also towns with the biggest population in the province. Pavia is a special case in the top 15. The town has made the list because of the massive income it gets from locally generated funds like taxes and income generating projects. Pavia hosts many industrial factories being the “Regional Agro-Industrial Center (RAIC)” and has recently received a lot of investments from new residential subdivisions like Ayala Land’s “Avida” and Sta. Lucia”s “Green Meadows.” Because of this, Pavia has become one of the towns in the Philippines that are least dependent on the national government’s internal revenue allotment (IRA).

SM Malls Bares Plan to Build a New ‘Supermall’ in Iloilo City

A according to a news article released by BusinessWorld, SM Prime holdings is eyeing to build a second SM Supermall in Iloilo City. Details about its proposed location, floor area, construction dates, were not revealed in the article. We’ll just have to wait and see until more details are announced by SM Prime Holdings.

Iloilo Airport Passenger Traffic Increases by 23.3% in 2009

Passenger traffic to the Iloilo Airport totaled 1,324,148 in 2009 translating to an increase of 23.3% compared to last year’s figures. The newly released data from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) still affirms the Iloilo Airport’s position as the 4th busiest airport in the country according to passenger traffic volume.

Robinsons Place Iloilo “Fashion Wing” Update – 04/10

New GSIS Iloilo Building Completed – 4/10 update

The new and modern building of Goverment Service Insurance System (GSIS)’s regional office in Iloilo CIty has already finished construction. It is located in Plaza Libertad area near San Jose Church in Downtown. The offices of GSIS Iloilo will be relocating to the new building this month (if they haven’t already).

Google updates satellite images of Iloilo City in Google Map

Enjoy the recently updated high-resolution satellite image of Iloilo City and Jordan, Guimaras in Google Maps. The new image is actually dated last year but it’s a big improvement compared to the previous 2006-dated coverage.

Iloilo Technohub by Ayala Land Proposed

Bared during the Iloilo Investment Forum, the Iloilo Technohub by Ayala Land is composed of three (3) buildings with support facilities and amenities for BPO locators. The first of the three buildings is envisioned to be a 3-storey, Grade A facility with 500-700 sq m of arcaded retail spaces at the ground floor.

As early as this announcement Ayala said that they already have a BPO locator in the proposed technohub. The 2 hectare property is located in Smallville spanning the whole area from The Avenue to the Riverside Boardwalk
