Is this the old Ill fated “Marikudo Country Club”??? Just renovated?
because if it is, hopefully this time the new management will do better and learn from old mistakes.
During my childhood days, they openend Marikudo only for the so called “Elite”, a members only club.
“We” the “poor” never got a glimpse of whats inside since it’s for “the can afford” only, until it went bankrupt.
After a few years I happen to went inside with a friend who played tennis, only to see the infamous Marikudo a wreck!
I remember herd of goats inside old hotel rooms, not to forget their shit all over the place, and one function room
used as a pig’s den for the “supposedly” caretakecare. And the pool now only being enjoyed by “butod-butod”,”puyo” and “paka”.
Moral of the story:
Kung Indi sila daluk daluk sang una kag gin open nila sa public from the very start…tani wala sila ma puto kag tanan happy!!!

Hi!,
JaskAss,5^, I agree! Matu-od ina. I was a cashier in one of the five star hotels in Iloilo. My boss told me to check that place “Marikudo” kayman sang bag-o lang mag -open ang ina, dawsa na-insecure si boss ko, gani guinsugo niya ako nga kadtu-an ko inang “Marikudo” nga para ba maningad-tingad ko ano ang ara sa ila nga wala sa amon. Abaw kasuplado sang ila nga manager, gani wala maduha ka tuig, naputo ang ila nga negosyo. Guin karma sila tanan e! Puto maya, wala trabaho kag malayo pa sa tawo. But now is totally different because at this time Iloilo has changes a lot! And they need to renovate all of shits out there. Okay, more power to “Centennial Resort Hotel and Convention Center”! and more power to the new management. Cheers!

I’m interested about this new place… Can we view some photos of the Bernwood Gardens portion?

I tried calling the Centennial Resort to ask about amenities, but the one who answered me seem not enthusiastic about selling hotel/resort. In order for the new management not to suffer the fate of the now defunct marikudo club, please put nice and accommodating people in the frontlines… It seems that the one who answered my call is quite “tamad” in explaining the amenities which I am curious for a wedding reception sometime October… I have to know of course since it is not available on the website at the same time I am asking from out of town…

i remember as a kid, weekend is a whole day affair in marikudo. i can’t really recall how marikudo looks like back then, but i know we love going to the pool. after so many years it was abandoned and it was drastic change. i haven’t visited centennial yet so i can’t really say anything good or bad but i’m glad that they revamp this place and made it open to the public. one thing i hear from people that in order to go from one place to another inside this huge plaza is you need a car??? i don’t get that? what happen if you don’t have a car? will that scare away people in going? don’t forget its hot out there walking in the sun….hmmm…..i will check this place out and see for myself. but for now, i’m glad its up and open…….good luck!

the ads are quite good, but i think there’s a need to post more photos… you know the blitz of photos….. it means more than what spoken words can say…
this certainly on the right track towards promoting iloilo city as the next big thing…
onward ilonggos….

ive been to centennial resort last holyweekend and the resort is packed with people…and yes, it already is open to the public now unlike before where people who are only elite can come and enjoy the place. the place was completely transformed and is a far cry from the old Marikudo. amenities here includes badminton, pool, bowling, table tennis, billiards, golf, airsoft war games, wallclimbing…and the freakin’ place has a spa and a gym inside! the place is really for the family to enjoy a whole day together…more power to centennial resort!

hmm…from Angelicum to Alta Tierra is way too crowded and its still flooding during rainy season..i cannot even tell where the entrance to Alta Tierra anymore..with too many stores along d road and commercial buildings makes it too ugly for a housing subdivision and its not like the Alta Tierra i’ve seen years back before i migrated here in United States..the centennial hotel that remains to be seen till my next visit and i dont know when that gonna be….last year when i was there in the month of August i was just driving outside Angelicum where i spent my prep school and i noticed how congested the area was and one thing for sure the population alone increases so does the revenues from OFW which is also a good sign but geezzz ..it totally look different from d past..but them d Jaro plaza still look d same for me..it would have been good if roads are well paved and wide enough for private cars to use separate from the buses..oh well, hope the election result will restore the freedom and brings new hope to the people not just the dirty politicians roaming around as if they own the world!! sucks!!

we had our team building seminar there. the place is quite ok since it’s newly renovated. the amenities are not yet finished. the rooms are also ok. though, they could use a training on customer service. the staff i encountered were polite but it takes quite a long time for them to attend to your requests. they could also hire a better cook. :-D

PLEASE POST PHOTO’s and Up-to DATE info’s of this resort hotel. There are ALOT of Ilonggo Balikbayan’s na gapuli esp. on the summer months (April - 1st week of June). So those DETAILED informations will be very USEFUL.
I used to live in Alta Tierra for like 6 years. And YES, i can ATTEST to the “flooding”… such utter inconvenience! But fortunately, the higher land area’s on Phase I is better kaysa sa mga houses by the village’s entrance.
Let’s give a SHOUT OUT to the Mayor to fix this flooding prob shall we??!
As for TRAFFIC congestion, when is it ever going to END??
Iloilo’s “mighty hopes” for PROGRESS is decreasing its CAPACITY in fixing decade old problems. Pinagusto lang build, invest, hala tanan nalang… i won’t be surprised if Ilonggo’s will settle somewhere else in the long run…
More building’s isn’t what Iloilo needs! Kay-uhon anay ang mga dalan, population control, better education & health care faci’s… bag-o mag HALA BIRA pinatindog building.
Anyway, I’m a fan of Hotel del Rio to this day. Decent accommodations, great service and up to par food.
Sarabia, well gets an above average for their resto’s. But sadly, poor customer service! I’m willing to try Centennial magpuli ko next year.
As for Shane, that clearly explains the newness of the resort.
The management SHOULD take ample time para i-train ang STAFF nila. If anyone from Centennial is reading this, there you go guys! You just LOST one customer in Shane. Kanugon tani coz’ she “could” have chosen to book the place for a special event, but poof goes everything.
Remember: FIRST IMPRESSIONS LAST!

I was there just very recently. Maybe they were that bad before whatever. But you know, we are all entitled to our opinions and they are always subjective.
I find the place very accommodating. I was greeted the moment I stepped out of the cab by a rather handsome moreno guy (stop me!) with a necktie. and pointed me to their restaurant. their food was very filipino. and that was all i missed. i would kill for a taste of their sotanghon again.
they have crowded swimming pools. i thought that was the downside. they probably did not forsee how much of a hit they were that they constructed a small pool.
I noticed a lot of koreans. actually, they are all over the city. Why?
i showed myself around their spa. it was like a whole new different place. I loved it. But i was short on cash so i never got to try any of their stuff. I will surely come back. and give it a try and tell you guys how it was. Go Centennial! God bless you and the beauty your sun brings.
