Dinagyang: RP’s best tourism event
THE world-renowned Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City strengthened its reputation as the country’s premiere festival after it was voted the best tourism event by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) last week.
Dinagyang beat other festivals vying for the prestigious awards, a retribution of sorts after Iloilo City’s main cultural and religious showcase lost to Cebu’s Sinulog festival in the 2006 Aliwan festival.
Established on October 4, 2001, ATOP is an organization of tourism officers which improve and recognize best tourism practices in the country.
