GMA oks Iloilo-Guimaras economic dev’t council
ILOILO City – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo approved the creation of the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC), with the inclusion of Sta. Barbara town.
On August 28, 2006, Arroyo issued executive Order No. 559 creating MIGEDC composing the Iloilo City Mayor (as the chairperson), Governor of Guimaras (as co-chairperson), with the municipal mayors of Leganes, Pavia, San Miguel, Oton and Sta. Barbara, and the president of the League of Municipalities of Guimaras, as members.
Sta. Barbara has been included because it hosts the New Iloilo Airport and because of its being an inter-modal transportation link.
