Iloilo is a province of the Philippines, located at the center of the Philippine archipelago. The province comprises the southeastern part of Panay Island with island-province of Guimaras just across its coast.
Iloilo’s rich heritage is showcased in multifarious festivals celebrated in the city and various towns of the province. Dubbed as the “Province of Festivals”, Iloilo is proud of its nationally acclaimed Dinagyang Festival.

The capital city of the province of Iloilo is the City of Iloilo, which is also one of the major urban centers in the Philippines. Iloilo is a fast-growing modern city but has kept its old charm and unspoiled environment. Today, it is a popular convention and meeting destination, with its many first class accommodations and an airport of international standards. Iloilo also serves as the gateway to the region and a favorite stopover for tourists heading to the beaches of Boracay, Palawan and the nearby provinces of Guimaras, Antique, Capiz, and Aklan.

Very nice place to stay. Fresh sea foods are a lot cheaper compared to other places. Nice hotels and plenty of restaurants and shopping malls. Soon to become the Queen City of the South.

Iloilo city and Province is unique in so many ways..aside from it’s rich Heritage and History the People were the most and important part of the Place..the shape of the map itself makes it different from the rest of the country ..the Iloilo RIver is a gem for the city..The Food is second to none..the Dinagyang Festival is the number one in the Country..Iloilo is Awesome..
@Raida, The surname Delagado might be extinct due to usurpation of paternal surname of another.
@Precious Delgado , if anyone wish to make a geneology tree. a parish archive is good help to excavate 1800′s people especially when they preserved records .
I have a small pension is £700 a month enough to live in the Philippines full-time? What is the average cost of living?
Hi,
I assume that’s GBP? Certainly! That much could let you live a very comfortable life in most provinces and even have spending money for random things that you might want e.g. shopping.
For Iloilo city, a P15K salary would be somewhat comfortable but for Manila it would have to be P25-30K for you to be relatively comfortable.
Would be best to visit http://www.expatforum.com though. They can help you gauge how much you need.
I really love Iloilo – a very sweet place to stay! Someday, I’ll be home and never leave you again.

Most of the Delgado clan is in Sta. Barabara, Iloilo. They are one of the prominent families there. Try to explore this particular town and am sure you can find your Delgado roots.
