Passenger traffic to the Iloilo Airport totaled 1,324,148 in 2009 translating to an increase of 23.3% compared to last year’s figures. The newly released data from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) still affirms the Iloilo Airport’s position as the 4th busiest airport in the country according to passenger traffic volume.
It has only been almost 3 years since the Iloilo Airport was moved to its current site. To recount, it was opened to commercial airlines on June 14, 2007. According to a press release by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the New Iloilo Airport Passenger Terminal is designed to handle only 1.2 million passenger traffic annually, which means that it’s currently operating over its capacity. If figures continue to increase and international flights finally operate, the Iloilo Airport will surely be ripe for its first expansion.

Yeah medyo. Decided to take a long rest anay to sort out stuff I’ll be doing for second month of the year. Will surely, keep on posting more articles for ExploreIloilo.
not another terminal, just an expansion of the existing, anyway the terminal is designed for to facilitate future expansion. hope to see international flights soon.
hopefully when i come home next year can fly directly to Iloilo…that would be great! can’t wait to see it happining accessibilities to international flights…mabuhay ILOILO!!!
With the wave of developments happening in Iloilo, I think it would be a prerogative for the local government to consider either: (1) expanding the current Iloilo Airport terminal or (2) build a second terminal (which is just as modern). It would also be good if the proposed train from airport to city would materialize. It wouldn’t be long and more developments/investments would be flocking into iloilo.
