Project Details: Inspired from the Baywalk concept along Roxas Boulevard in Manila, Iloilo will be having it’s own 8km “Iloilo Boulevard” constructed, which will start from the back of Gaisano City in La Paz all the way to the New Carpenters Bridge in Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao
The Iloilo Boulevard also includes the construction of a riverside promenade along its length. The project seeks to revive the beauty and wealth of the Iloilo River, which is why Mayor Jerry Trenas has assured that the 3,000 mangrove trees growing at the bank of the river will be preserved.

On-going road construction from Carpenters Bridge to Diversion Road
The components of the project were once part of part of the Jalandoni Bridge Project and the Iloilo River Rehabilitation Project (IRRP). Later, it was included as components of the Iloilo Flood Control Project. The “Iloilo Boulevard” is listed under the medium-term development plans of the Iloilo City Government and will most probably be completed in 2010-2013.

Proposed road from Jalandoni Bridge (near San Agustin) to the parking lot of Gaisano City

other metropolitan like cagayan de oro has already started to boom their city because of their infrastructure dev’t. that prioritize by city gov’t. i hope our city government too is making this project priority for fast development of the city. i think the city of iloilo is left beyond by other metropolitan city because of the delay of the projects and political well is still lead for survival by the leader. there are many things to comment like the jalandoni bridge is not in proper place, sidewalk vendors make town crowded and inconvenient to go to shop and public walk ways or pedestrian should be designed as a friendly public walk ways for the pipol can just walk to help minimize traffic due to overcrowding vehicles and awareness of global warming. there should be a city architect in this getting crowded city for the proper way of implementation and effective development.
A boulevard by the river? Great idea. This will open avenues for more opportunities and will make Iloilo River fun and enjoyable. I can’t wait. Just make sure this boulevard is 3 lanes wide each way and space for future expansion. Free from illegal structures or squatters in the proximity.
Whew!!!traffic jams is d most common problem and tailgaiting..roads should have solid and broken lines and driving schools be updated with trafffic rules and regulations as well as speed limits..reroute d passenger jeepneys and private vehicles all in different route..its way too crowded…it would also be nicer if the city will make a memorandum of NO SIDEWALK VENDORS..it would be nicer if these sidewalk vendors be all n one area and make d JARO plaza look like a plaza.. and d sidewalk streets FREE so ILOILO is next to DAVAO….also the citizens should observed strict guidelines to garbage disposal..so water in d river is clear from garbage …lots of things to do for ILOILO CITY to look at its best..it needs cooperation from d public as well for a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT…no graffiti signs…no littering..and no garbage in d sidewalks..etcetera and etcetera..then d bridge ,wow iloilo!!
As much as an open discussion is appreciated, I’d like to remind everyone to stay on topic as much as possible.
that’s a good proposals, pero kwedaw gid kamo mag boto liwat kay Malabor kay nali magda-og sya balik gid liwat ang Iloilo sa pagotpot nga sistima
a boulevard is a good project. i hope the the roads will be widen. building officials should also follow the proper setbacks..
I Agree with Jeff, It’s a beautiful project. But before they go on with this. Why wouldn’t they fix the current problems first. Like Poor and Narrow roads that cause traffic jams, proper routing of passenger vehicles, Illegal squatters, proper garbage collection and disposal, Power failures. etc….
Iloilo will grow and prosper more as a prime city if all these exixsting issues be resolved.
God Bless Iloilo!!!
Wow! Good to hear this. This proposal will add up as one of the tourist attractions of Iloilo City. Also we need road widening all over. Maintenance of the beautification and cleanliness in the City of Iloilo is a must.
i think its a beautiful project… and its a start of development in iloilo… i suggest that the main roads in the city will be widen
I home it turns out well (unlike the riverside promenade and the night market along Muelle Loney that was a major bust). Iloilo will have a more metropolitan feel by then
man… Iloilo is really starting to develop into a big city..
