New businesses and infrastructure developments abound in the city. The second part of this month’s development update covers the Iloilo Boulevard or Iloilo River section of the Iloilo Flood Control Project, new Food Shops in Smallville, the ongoing construction of the new Ateneo de Iloilo Campus, and SPICE building of St. Paul Hospital.
Iloilo Boulevard and Riverside Boardwalk
The improvement of the Iloilo River, under package II of the Iloilo Flood Control Project, has already finished construction. Alongside the river wall is a strip of compacted soil, which will later be paved to link Diversion Road to the Carpenter’s Bridge (Tabucan) in Molo. This section is part of the Iloilo Boulevard, which will extend from Carpenter’s to Gaisano City in La Paz.

Old Carpenter’s bridge redevelopment
After the completion of the new carpenter’s bridge in Molo, the old bridge has ben redeveloped into a promenade. The historic bridge has now been repaired and laid down with tiled flooring. The City Government aims to further add benches, flowering plants and lampposts to complete the transformation.
MO2 Ice Bar and Waterpark
MO2 Ice Bar and Waterpark in Smallville is already open. MO2 ICE is your usual airconditioned bar with “cool” interiors and a live band. It has a balcony with a view of the MO2 Waterpark, which is a landscaped swimming pool with a Mayan/Indian motif.
New Restaurants at The Avenue
The Avenue is a new building in Smallville located near Pirates and MO2. The occupants in this building include Coffee Break, Bauhinia – Filipino Cuisine, Nothing but Desserts, Mojave – Grill and Steak House, and Amalfi – Cucina Italia.
Ateneo de Iloilo new Campus and Tabucan-San Rafael area in Mandurriao
The Tabucan-San Rafael road is currently being expanded into a 4 lane road. The lots along the road are being reclaimed, which means that new buildings could be constructed there in the future.

St. Paul’s Integrated Center of Expertise (SPICE) building
The new SPICE building by St. Paul Hospital is also starting to shape up. The building will be a six (6) level Medical Arts Building.

NIA is the BEST airport in the Philippines, I guarantee that! The maintenance is the main action to preserve the airport. In regards to the international flight, NIA is the ONES that we can recommned. I am VERY proud of the airport. Maipagmamalaki natin ‘to! What I am willing to see is the masterplan of Iloilo City Hall be published in this site. I like SPICE building of Saint Paul, looks like is kinda huge building. The most project that is nearly done is the Flood Control project, glad! Surely that the Diversion Road area is the booming CBD in ILOILO. ILOILO is beautiful once these infrastructures will continually rise in this area. Glad to know that Dong Sarabia,Jr is the DOT undersecretary. I wish the very best for him holding this position! The most important also is to start the International fligths ,because that is the vital key to invite or attract the various investors to invest sa Iloilo, tingnan nyo ang mga cities na may una na International Airport sila ang una din na umunlad, dapat ang mga Ilonggo o taga panay huwag ng pumunta ng manila o cebu ,malaki ang population ng panay more than 5 million kisa sa cebu na 3.5 million lang pag nagdemand yan at maraming mga pasahero sigurado mapipilitan ang mga airlines company namagbukasan sila diyan sa Iloilo? At alam ko Iloilo is one of the province of the philippines na may highest number of Overseas Filipino Workers(Worldwide), I believed kaya ng Iloilo eh sustain yan and the city and provincial government should work hard for that yan lang ang tanging susi para magumpisa na ang International fligths and more progress it can offer sa buong western visayas. I hope that Iloilo will continue this kind of developments basta magisa lang ang mga city officials at hindi magawayaway at huwag unahin ang personal interest katulad nong una na mga leader ng city? I know Iloilo is very potential for bussiness development kasi buong panay at western visayas diyan ang kalakalan and Iloilo is also nearly to become one of the National Center of Educations due to their numerous prominent and high standard 40 Colleges and 8 Universities, I encourage all Ilonggos to promote the potential of your place and invite more investors to come in your beloved city and I believed ILOILO can make it at hidi kayo mahuhuli, “SALE” the Name of ILOILO nationally and Internationally.
