Iloilo mayor bares ongoing dev’t projects in city

Iloilo City (29 March) — Various types of buildings and infrastructure projects are unceasing and are being built which is an indication that Iloilo City is growing and becoming a progressive business center in the country, Mayor Jerry Trenas who is also the President of the League of City Mayors of the Philippines told some 700 budget officials from different parts of the country who gathered during the Philippine Association for Government Budget Administration (PAGBA) Seminar-Workshop held here in the city.

Mayor Trenas said that with the support of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo these infrastructure projects are unceasing and soon “we will be having two new vehicular fly overs to start construction in April and to be finished before the year ends”.

He told the participants to the PAGBA gathering that he was “happy to have chosen Iloilo City as the venue of the activity considering that we are trying to position Iloilo City as the convention center in this part of the country”.

On PAGBA’s theme, “Innovate or Stagnate: Period of Adjustments in 2007,” Mayor Trenas said that as we live here in the world of constant change, we have always to be prepared to make the necessary modifications.

The keynote speaker of the PAGBA gathering was Secretary Cerge Remonde of the Presidential Management Staff who said that the government is pursuing programs and projects that will not only prime up the economy but make social payback immediate and substantial. (PIA)
