The Laguda House: A remnant of Iloilo’s glorious past

“); } ?>Even in its ruined state, the Laguda House continues to capture the awe of onlookers with its mysterious aura that never fails to spark the memories of its glorious days. This neoclassic edifice is located along General Hughes highway, which used to be one of Iloilo’s “high street” and was lined with grand sea side villas of the elite.

Like the Fort San Pedro, one could surmise that the Laguda House was also bombed during World War II and later abandoned.

The Laguda House

The Laguda house is roughly 500 meters from Plaza Libertad and can be reached by riding a “Jaro CPU” jeep in front of the Masonic Temple/NSO beside Plaza Libertad. It is situated at the right side of General Hughes highway. You will know if you have went past the Laguda House if you have already reached Fort San Pedro.

hahaha… got it~ updated ka man gle sa capitol.. dapat lang ky kwarta sang ginikanan ta ang ila ginakawat… nagabayad man kita tax… parihu kita nga wala site huhuhu… diri man ako naga panalawsaw… kaso indi daily ang pg update sang mga iloilo news… atleast my balita kg expose’ kesa naman wala… regards…

ms mayo i hope mangin successful ka sa haunted house project mo. also you dont need to pay 4 expensive entrace fee pra makasulod ka sa haunted house try bla ang city hall kay ara dira mo makita tanan nga murto. pwede ta na da umpisahan sa city hall. again good luk.

how can you be so sure nga makawat sya… my ibidensya ka? budlay ang naga pasuli or pato-pato… anyway kanami sang imu idea about sa haunted house… kn mg saksisful akon suhistion ikaw gd ang una nga balitaan ko…. why not! ka rich sang aton nga history kg enchanted pa ang Pinas! Visiting a haunted house would be very exiting…gusto ku na gani e try, im willing to pay bisan expensive pa ang ntrance fee… lets make friends with our dead love ones or other ghost nga kasimanwa ta. hahaha… probably we can learn a lot from them… they are the key to “our past or our history” jejejeje.. medyo scary para sa iban ky basi masapi-an sila sang kaluluwa…on the other hand wala mn sila dapat kakulbaan gd ky my mga anting-anting or proteksyon naman sbung nga mga kulintas, orasyon, oil at marami pang iba~ hehehe…

a councilor gle sya!… hapos lang nah pangitaon… salamat… ako bahala sa iya…^-^… damu dre haunted na house pero indi mahapos magsulod kay pribado kg daw wala naman gawa momo ky magahod na masyado ang syodad…. bakit aw? project mu sa school? pls tell me bout sa type of ART nga napili kg nagustohan nyo ni CHYMERA ky daw ka werdo.. anu nah’ sya? inti kristo nah? jejeje

i’v heard that the relatives wanted to build a building in der lot because it is still a private property…Iloilo government stopped da demolition. ofcourz daw polis ang DOT kg local government “they are always late!” Nagalabay ako dira before kg i couldn’t help it but to turn my back with great admiration sa remains sang nasambit nga mansyon. In my own judgement the Laguda House is ‘the most splendiferous mansion house in Iloilo.’ if I were rich, i’ll buy the place and restores it back to its archetype visual aspect… Why our life here in iloilo is so slow and we always act late? maybe matamad kita kg wala sense of nationalism… TAMA?

No offense ha….it seems that the residents near the site don’t care about it as they sometimes dump their garbage towards the area. I hope it’s different nowadays.
