Other wishlists: powerbooks, tgif, dencio’s, krispy kreme, calea,

I now know the story behind Skin Food in SM. The Korean businessman that was supposed to open the store is my Tita’s student in San Ag. She said he backed out because SM gave him only limited space and he was planning for a much more bigger store. I think he is still scouting for locations again.

HI. I think we ilonggos really go for what we call “value for our money”. We are not that “bagit”. Those who can afford are willing to pay a much more expensive brand as long as it satisfies their expectations. When Kenny Rogers opened in Iloilo City, who would have thought it would last long in the business? Considering that its a foreign owned company. And it has a higher price compared to other restaurants. But look at the store especially during lunch and dinner time, you have to wait in line for quite a while. Sbarro, ma pila ka man at some times. True that in Iloilo, you can have expensive restaurants as long as you satisfy the customers expectations. Indi lang pag intu-a and ilonggo kay madulaan ka gd negosyo.

Just would like to ask anyone – What’s the status of the old airport lot which Megaworld bought? Judging from what has transpired in Metro Manila, Megaworld is quite an industry leader in creating massive income-generating lifestyle and IT business centers as attested by Eastwood City. Also, when will the Ayalas consider investing in Iloilo? I mean, the city has a substantial share of middle to high-end consumers just like Cebu and there is plenty of prime land in the city and suburbs of Pavia and Sta. Barbara.

  14. Posted June 25, 2009 at 8:04 pm |

No movement on the Megaworld property yet. Although I have seen a small part of the property enclosed in a gate with a semi tall tower.
The Ayalas is not interested in Iloilo at all. They didn’t even send any representative during the bidding for the old airport lot.
