Iloilo City (21 April) — Presidential Management Staff Chief Cerge Remonde said some P29.1 billion has been allocated by the national government for infrastructure projects for Western Visayas aimed to boost farm production and transport.
Remonde, during the recent awarding ceremonies of the Best Public Sector Projects in Western Visayas held in this city, said these projects included two major roads, four airports, one roro port, one flood control and three power electrification projects.
Two of the four airports, said Remonde have already been completed. These are the New Iloilo Airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo and the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Bacolod City.
“Except for the flood control projects, all these are to be completed by 2010″, said Remonde.
Earlier this year, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has ordered a “surge in infrastructure spending” as a springboard for further economic growth
Remonde added that infrastructure programs make possible the seamless movement of farm products to markets, of passengers from destination to destination.
In line with this, he cited the importance of the Rehabilitation of the Aganan River Irrigation System and Enhancement of Agricultural Support Service projects of the National Irrigation Administration VI (NIA VI) in Iloilo to bolster food production.
The said project of NIA was among the winning projects included in the Best Public Sector Projects for 2006-2007. It won 2nd place in the Regional Line Agencies category. (Philippine Information Agency)

It would be nice if the road going to the country is four-lanes road. Road is very important to the commuters that live in the country side. Not only that, road is a gateway to economic progress of the country especially outside Metro Manila, like for example Iloilo City and Province and the neighboring cities and provinces of Western Visayas. If there is a budget we don’t need to delay these projects. Action speaks more louder than words, therefore, if there is a budget allocated there is no reason to hold the money, for what?! Instead, these money will go to someone elses pocket. Especially election time is on the way. Yanno what I Mean?! :)
BTW, how about the Plan-B? Plan-B meaning the Iloilo-Guimaras Bridge. I was 9 years old when my Dad talking about the Plan-B, now I am close to 50 still the project doesn’t exists. Yanno, these politicians are just like the turtle, mabagal kasi sinisiguro muna nila ang kanilang bulsa bago ang mga proyektos. Makapal ang mga mukha. Sanay na kasi eh! Iyon lang po.
ILOILO is awesome! That’s all I can say, but we need more infras to boost our economy. The reason why we have to provide the necessities of the city and province to encourage the investors to build their business(es) here. The MOST important necessities are STABLE electricty, potable water supply and roads. Correct me if I’m wrong. Once these problems are solved then investors will come and invest here. Glad that the Flood Control projects are to be completed by 2010, thanks God. Cheers! ;)
About the Jeepney and Bus Terminals. I saw one of the terminals in Iloilo City that looks muddy and nasty, I think that’s in Jaro, and I was like OMG! The terminal issue needed to be solved. And why these terminals are being ignored by these people in power?! We are dreaming to take our crown as “Queen City of the South”, rightttt?!! In this case politicians need to take an action to solve this problem. We have money allocated by the national government, and I hope and pray that the leaders will use some of the money to build nice and presentable terminals for attract investors and visitors. Just saying.
I can’t understand why these leaders are hard to deal when it comes to the development of the city and province. Na-ulihi na kita iya sa iban ah! I checked some of the threads here, and I can see the tall buildings of our neighboring islands, and I was like shaking my head, can’t do nothing about it. Tsk..tsk! But I DO NOT lose my hope that in the near future we can have these tall buildings in our city. Once the Megaworld is built, the investors will popping-up like crazy. I think positive all the time that ILOILO City will rise again! ILOILO the beautiful!
29.1 B is a huge money when it will be materialize. but the question is, ayhan? makadto ayhan tana sa project nga na? indi ayhan makadto man sa Personal project sang iban? these is the reality that we can’t ignore, but I always thinking a positive way. we we look for it it will boost our economy. in Tranportation, we need to change our look only for today, we need to expand this so called national higway. time will come that our next generations will blame us what we did, see that highway going to leganes, i can’t say it is a national high way, makita ko na jampak ang trafic , subung palang na paano na ang next generation, iloilo to south to antique, so narrow if you called that a national high way, i not proud/happy of it tapos gaplan pa magconstruct sang bridge going to guimaras and Negros, how come lah, indi gan kapalapad ka highway naton di.
our irrigations , gamay lang ang makapulus sang tubig, sometime gaaway pa ang mga farm owner kung gabi sa pag inagaway sang tubig, i’m a farmer also who watching at night who turn off the valve or what ever you called that
if we promote this iloilo river as a historic place, may nakita ka bala nga may nagahulag da nga negorsyo? oo may ara sa bukana lang ehh. but what i’m saying is , why we don’t put a ferry nga pang transportation sa tubig pakadto sa pina ka sulod nga avialable ang boat nga makanavigate. and soon this will promote tourisim and will help the trafic jam i think this is the best ideas. pabutang pa kamo da sang boulevard pero wala man ginagamit ang river.. puro lang da kahoy nga ga tindog sa tunga nga masakit sa mata. when it come to trafic this is the best way to help the trafic in iloilo. from molo plasa to plasa lebertad imagine mo kung pila ka minuto ang ma osik dira kung tama ka trafic. and mas nami pa pamatyag mo if sa tubig ka kay feeling fresh ka (feeling lang, pero paano kung may nagalutaw da, ambot kung ano na.) basi kuarta,
