Seven festivals from different towns in Iloilo performed yesterday (April 8, 2008) afternoon during the Pasundayag of Festivals to open the celebration of Semana sang Iloilo. The contingents first performed at the freedom grandstand where they were able to showcase their culture and history through a colorful and well choreographed dance drama presentation. After performing, a parade followed until the provincial capitol grounds, where the contingents made their final act.

First to perform is Saad Festival of Leganes, the winner of the Kasadyahan Competition during the Dinagyang Festival and official entry to the 2008 Aliwan Festival in May.

Kasag Festival of Banate – After their performance, the announcer told the crowd that Kasag Festival will be Iloilo’s third entry to the 2008 Aliwan Festival. After further investigation, we were told that the group sent a letter to the Manila Broadcasting Company to propose their entry to the Aliwan Fest. We’re still confirming if the letter was indeed accepted by MBC.
