Every February 2, 2009, the district of Jaro celebrates a fiesta for Nuestra Senyora de la Candelaria (The Lady of Candles). Jaro is teeming with all sorts of events during the Jaro Fiesta 2009, from religious activities at the Jaro Cathedral to a cock fighting derby in the Jaro Coliseum. The Jaro fiesta is condidered as the biggest and grandest fiesta celebration in the entire country. The main highlight of the day is a religious procession lead by the young women of the elite Jaro families.

Great shots from your D40 Marcos! Are they ever eh! The Jaro fiesta is one of the most awaited events of the year. The town plaza is teeming with rides, circus shows, agricultural exhibits and the feria. I used to remember decades back, I won lots of goodies and stuff from the feria, including pula-puti game, shooting game and my favourite of all..the shell game…hahahaha!!! Yeah, for sure I’ll synch my next vacation during the Jan.-Feb. activities there in Iloilo!
