Bulubadiangan or “sandbar island” is a popular island attraction in Concepcion, Iloilo. Many local and foreign tourists visit Sandbar Island for its clear blue waters and long shifting white sandbar, which would shift from left to right depending on the direction of the wind. It is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and just about any water recreation activity. The island also offers a great view of the outlying islands of Concepcion, including the majestic Mt. Manaphag in Pan de Azucar Island.

Visitors can really commune with the beauty of nature in Sandbar Island because of its relative isolation and minimal development. Similarly named, the Sandbar Island Beach Resort is the only accommodation in the small island. A few nipa huts are available for visitors who would want to spend a night in Sandbar Island Beach Resort. Each hut can fit 4 – 10 people and can be rented for only P800. Electricity on the island only lasts until 9pm. There are bathrooms but the water is salty. Visitors also have to bring their own food and either have them cooked in the resort or cook the food themselves.
The cottages of Sandbar Island Beach Resort
When planning for your trip in Sandbar Island Beach Resort be sure contact the resort or the Concepcion Tourism Office for your transportation arrangements. It is accessible by a passenger boat plying the area at 10:00AM daily. For a group of 10 persons and above, hiring a chartered boat from the resort would be advisable. Travel time is approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Sorry for late rep , I been to Conception :) anyway , The person must have already get by with it , its odd to get bothered over and over again every single day and on the next and so on …
After all , I do not get stuck to ruin-moments , If my peace of mind will just be worth or hamper by 200 Pesos mark up , I better be paying for it than pay it and then spend rest of my days with a heavy heart… the advantage of letting go , unloads all the burden you might have, so if it should be anyone style to keep the burden with them because thats the way they cope things , they are victim of their own crime , I guess theres much problem to deal with than getting stuck on with 200 mark up . The 90% of reaction is taking its toll on you.
But then if it didn’t bother you as well you wouldn’t have replied to the post.
Vic it’s easy to tell people to just let it go but consider when they planned ahead and there are no other options (no other hotels or resorts) to stay in then I think they can very well complain and let us know how they were treated. It’s very insensitive if you to just dismiss their complaints considering what they went through.
Mithrill you and I have no total control of people just as the overpricing pictorial fee (10%) …. damage has been done to soon-to-be … yet we can control of reaction to it (90%) and that makes life beautiful… because we hold our happiness within our grip …. not the 10%
Read it again, It’s not just the price that was the problem. I would imagine that a ruined pre-nup pictorial would not be something anyone could just leave at ease. The person has a right to complain, how do you expect the services to improve and for others to be wary of a certain business/place? Too easy for you to say.

That’s easy for you to say but those people spent time and money and booked in advance. It was an important day(read:prenup pictorial) for them and it got ruined.

The place is lovely, as in super beautiful, the problem is the owner is mukhang pera and impolite… so low daw ang pictorial fee na 500 (actually the agreed price before we went there was 300 pesos) .. it got me thinking what is really their rate???!!!!!!! and with an additional comment of — makabayad gani kami kwatro mil sa video (we can actually pay for 4ok for the video) with this statement i conclude the impoliteness and being money hungry. and we had our reservation since the middle of april, yet when we arrived there we have no place to stay in, but we agreed to stay in much higher rate cottage as well as agreed to transfer to another if the occupants will leave, whats important is that we can change and start immediately the make-up and prenup pics.. then came the money hungry old man owner of the island, saying that we cant stay there because they have guests arriving and have reservation?! we answered that we agree to transfer if the other occupants scheduled for check out is out na.. daw d pa sya magsugot.. i said whats wrong with him, that we’ve already finalize everything with the tourism and yet here he (owner) comes and doesn’t want us to stay anywhere? what does he expect the bride to change clothes in the middle of the sea? so impolite and muney hungry.
I was so disappointed because I’ve been there many times even before wen it wasn’t still develop, times when it was still a bare island. doesn’t the owner realized that with prenups the island will be promoted, especially because the videographer has a website to show their finished products. hopefully the management
realize their mistake, and will not fall hard on the floor even without rising that high in the tourism industry.. sayang ang place, maganda pa naman
Sad to read about your recent experience. It’s not good news to find out inconsistencies with the rates (the “pictorial fee” as you mentioned) when you’ve already contacted them directly long before your planned visit.
With regards to the overbooked cottages, Nong Sonny shared that they are having difficulties because of the increasing number of visitors and the limited cottages at the resort (this may not be related to your experience). Even big hotels have issues with overbooked rooms sometimes . Sandbar is just a family operated resort, these things are bound to happen especially now that Concepcion has become increasingly popular among tourists.
They have no plans of increasing the number of (overnight) cottages because they already have their hands full as is. I’m actually happy to hear this from him because I wouldn’t like to see big concrete structures crowding the beach at sandbar.

we would like to go there with my family this year around december but my lolo’s family are located it alimodian. how far is it from there? we are are planning to visit them first then go to conception, but don’t know how far the place is, and where we can stay over night.

Sandbar Island Beach Resort is really one of a kind! I definitely love the view if it’s high tide. It seems like you are walking on the ocean. I hope the local government could also help develop the back of the island which is a potential tourist destination as well.
Hi there Mario. My family is planning to have our reunion on May 2011, and sandbar was introduced to us by some friends. More or less there will be 50 people coming over from Iloilo, Cebu, Davao and Mindanao.I would like to know if there will be cottages available to house our guests for 2 nights 3 days at the most. Another concern is the peace and order. Will there be people from the resort who will stay there for the whole day to see through the needs of the guests? And do we have parking area where we can leave our vehicles safely while we stay in the island? And such other concerns like entrance fee, rentals for the cottages, boat fare and other things that we have to pay.

I better not to give my testimony about this place… its charm i find myself so scarce of words to form to tell the place… the place must remains it unspoilt state its Edenic Beauty…primeval splendor it should be preserved. If I have millions…. i will buy this place and declare the place— no mans land and established the Empire in there, free from harm of human greed and bestiality…

the sand bar island is a great place to unwind yourself. such great beauty is so captivating. It does not only give you the peace of mind but also a sanctuary for a unstable mind. the water was so cool and the sight is so fascinating. i wish i own the place…hahaha….i was there fro our seminar..even though i did spent a lot, i was satisfied by the beauty that it gave me. what a place. by the way……thank you sir sa nagdaha sang amun food for our stay sa resort…thank you…namit guid and nylon shell…thank you pastor…..

my son is joining the shell chess tournament in iloilo city this weekend, sat and sun. how far is concepcion from iloilo city.
we will be arriving on fri 3pm and will be leaving on mon 2 pm. and we are looking for a nice beach resort from sun pm to mon am before we return to manila.
Concepcion is BEAUTIFUL! All we need is a GOOD ROAD all over the place, especially a road along the beaches. Hala Bira! : )
I was there in Iloilo City last Christmas of ’07 and went back home to the US last January of ’08. I visited my family in Molo. We had family reunion in Alubihod, Guimaras island, and I am planning to go back probably next year. I loved Alubihod very much, and the whole family enjoyed the blasts. Yanno what, we have beautiful beaches all over Panay Island, I should say..we are gifted! Boracay Island is now all over the globe. Concepcion island has a lot to offer, Sicogon rocks, Gigantes island is awesome, Phaidon beach is gorgeous, and Guimaras Island is stunningly BEAUTIFUL! IF, I win the Lotto here, I would prefer to build a hotel in one of the hot spots of Guimaras. Cheers! ; )

I know someone who has a private resort on this place, this is a great place, you will love this unspoiled beauty.
If you love seafood this is the place where you have to go, fresh and cheap.
