Universities and Colleges in Iloilo
Having one of the highest literacy rates in the country and being center of education in Western Visayas, Iloilo has a lot of educational institutions including more than 50 tertiary, 200 secondary, and 1100 elementary level schools.
There are 6 universities in Iloilo, 4 of them are private universities while 2 of them are public or government-owned.

Central Philippines University (CPU)
Central Philippines University is a non-stock, non-profit Christian Institution of higher learning, where a well-rounded program of education is offered under influences that strengthen faith and build up character.

University of San Agustin (USA)
Founded in 1904 by the Augustinian Friars under the inspiration of St. Augustine, Doctor and Father of the Church, the University of San Agustin (USA) has continued the rich legacy of scholarship exemplified by St. Augustine, the Library of the Church; Fr. Johann Gregor Mendel, O.S.A., the First Geneticist; and Fr. Manuel Blanco, O.S.A., author of Flora de Filipinas.

University of Iloilo (UI)
In June 1947, the University of Iloilo, then the Iloilo City Colleges, was founded by the Lopez brothers Don Eugenio and Don Fernando Lopez. They were inspired by the latter’s wife, Doña Mariquit. They were motivated by their belief that education is not only for the rich but also for the poor and the middle class. A group of professionals and experienced educators who shared their vision of a great university joined them in this venture.

Iloilo Doctors’ College offers educational program that specializes in Dental Care, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Health Aide, Medical Technology, Radiologic Technology, Biological Science, Social Work, Pre Dental, Management, Banking and Finance, Secretarial Course, Criminology, Information Management and Technology, Computer Science, Midwifery, Kindergarten and Nursery.

Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST)
Western Visayas College of Science and Technology as the center of excellence in science and technology. WVCST’s main campus is located in La Paz, Iloilo City, it was created by virtue of Batas Pambansa Blg. 395, an act converting the Iloilo School Arts and Trades in Iloilo City, into the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, and expanding its curricular programs.

JOHN B. LACSON FOUNDATION, INC. is a pioneer institution in maritime education. Since its establishment in 1948, John B. Lacson foundation, Inc., then Iloilo Maritime Academy and all its units has gone a long long way. Today, JOHN B. LACSON FOUNDATION, INC. holds international accreditation by being certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) of Norway for its Quality Assurance System - the first in the Philippines, second in Asia and third in the world to have a such distinction. Recently, JOHN B. LACSON FOUNDATION, INC. is one of the top maritime schools certified by the Commission on Higher Education as having complied with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
