SM City Iloilo is the biggest and most popular mall in Iloilo, having a gross floor area of 105,953 square meters and a total land area of 17.5 hectares. Completed in 1999, SM City Iloilo is the 8th SM Supermall built by SM Prime Holdings. SM City Iloilo follows a four storey box-type, typical of most SM supermalls.

SM City Iloilo was built on the same design template of SM City Fairview and SM City Bacoor. The mall complex was designed by Palafox and Associates with D.A. Abcede & Associates as consultants and Young Builders Corporation as contractor. In 2009, major exterior and interior renovation works were applied to SM City Iloilo.
SM City Iloilo features main anchors like SM Department Store, SM Supermarket, SM Cinemas and SM Food Court. The supermarket, activitiy center, and food court are located on the lower ground floor (LGF). The department store, retail, and food shops can be found on the 2nd and 3rd floors. SM City Iloilo’s eight cinemas are also located on the 3rd floor. Lastly, the 4th floor is occupied by Teletech Call Center.

How to get to SM City
Because of its popularity, accessibility to SM City Iloilo is very easy. From the Iloilo Airport, there are shuttle vans that drop passengers off at SM City Iloilo (P50 fare). From the City Proper, jeepney routes that pass by SM City Iloilo include: City Proper, SM Mandurriao, Diversion Ungka. From the Jaro Plaza area, commuters can get on a Leganes jeepney.

You made a garrulous speech and all but it could have just been summarized into three sentences at best.
As far as poverty goes, it is always present in the Philippines and pretty much the world. Even first world countries have their own share of the problem. You make it seem like Bacolod is suffering from it more than Iloilo.
Don’t assume to lecture me on how both cities work as I have years of experience in both. You complain a lot bot never offer any solutions. Too biased of an opinion you have there.
SM is a very successful corporation and I think they know enough where to build a new mall. They would not do these things if they were ignorant.
@boss thanks. Iloilo was always been busy place since 16th century and until now because Spain established their capital in Iloilo. Chinese Merchants inhabited the area . Negros is also a wonderful place to be… Sugarcane plantation streched miles and miles from Bacolod up to Murcia and encircling the whole provice up to Calatrava and down to the southernmost part. Nothing much to be jealous about Iloilo.
SM iloilo is expanding soon may insider ako nabalitaan… much much bigger than SM Bacolod Expansion. pero mauna muna ang bacolod since gamay gid man to ila. they need expansion asap. iloilo is built with more than 100,000 sq.m. 40% bigger than SM bacolod. Parang Robinsons lang yan, nauna muna sila mag expand then kita naman. our robinson is almost 40% bigger din kaysa sa kanila. and alam ko mas malaki ang expansion natin.
cguro Ayala is next kahit wla pa news pero i’m sure ayala has plan to put up regional mall sa iloilo. wish mode lang yan… pero gabanat man ang Lifestyle mall sang megaworld.. bisan wla kita ayala, MW Mall (festive walk) is promising….
Hello Boss , Busy because Iloilo is the pooling center of 5 Provinces that is Antique , Aklan , Capiz , Guimaras and Iloilo Province certainly have various transactions everyday here and considering these provinces are highly mobile economically speaking , whereas In Negros Occidenal , A Sugarcane farmer doesnt have to get into bacolod city to transact business or get to go school or anything , In Iloilo City , a tremendous hordes of Buses from those places are bringing here thousand upon thousand people with numerous transactions , either these people are going to school , hospitals ,grocery stores hardwares ,paying bills , reporting for duty , getting government-issued checkes in the banks , licenses to operate ,some are bringing here vegetables carrots cabbages onions of, supply of chickens, beefs , porks , mangoes , banana, Oil , fishes , and many more..very few tourist came to visit Iloilo…so with these economic flow , Business Sector invest to make profit from here , they put up restaurants, clubs ,shops ,stores , do franchising ,bakery , all , and these were being taxed and then their taxes are paid to maintain all operational cost of state schools , hospitals , roads , government buildings.
Bacolod is full of very nice , happy people….and of course the problem of poverty in whole of Negros Occidental is a long-term goal of their Government which is not easy to deal with… in my opinion , population reduction may help , micro financing , must consider to shift to other agriculture aside from sugar… aside from its very laborious , it took 9 months to harvest it ,so to elevate the standard of living all througout.. like every house hold has food on the table , comportable dwelling to rest and so on
I travel back and fort the Iloilo and Bacolod twice a week and notice that Bacolod doesn’t really have the same hustle and bustle as Iloilo. Iloilo seems like a busier city and I dare say would likely have a population with more disposable income.
Also judging from the friends and contacts I have in both cities, I can certainly can say that Iloilo has many “silent” or discrete millionaires. One thing I noticed is that people from bacolod seem to be somewhat jealous or disdainful of the people from Iloilo. I would not know where this comes from seeing as I didn’t grow up in this region.

-based on design, SM Bacolod rocks. But if based on functionality, I think it sucks BIG TIME! I always get tired when I shop there. When I leave something in the department store, I have to walk the long bridge just to get it back. I dont find shopping there astig at all. i don’t know but it all feels a bit stupid.

When I left the place, SM City wasn’t there yet. But when family visits ILOILO they told me that almost everything changes. I really would love to come there for a visit as soon as I have “enough” in my pocket to spend. As of this moment naga-supot supot pa ako..he he. Bag-o lang nag abot ang akon nga bata halin dira. Gani slow down anay. Obra kag supot-supot anay, OK :)
Been to SM City Iloilo and it was indeed a very nice place and I enjoy shopping with my family. IT so relaxing being there. GO Iloilo!
