Investment Opportunities in Iloilo and Guimaras Report

During the Iloilo – Guimaras Investment Forum held on September 4, 2009, at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila, a lot of discussions were bared geared towards marketing the potential of Metro Iloilo – Guimaras as an attractive investment center specifically in areas of information and communication technology, tourism, and agribusiness.

One of the most exciting parts of the forum was a list of proposed major investments in Iloilo outlined in the “Tourism Investment Opportunities in Iloilo and Guimaras” report presented by Ms. Narzalina Lim, President ofÂ Asia Pacific Projects, Inc. Here are some of the investments mentioned in the report:

Kapideco Estate

Kapideco (Kauturan Pison Development Corp.) estate is a master planned mixed-use development currently being developed in the large area that was once salt beds and fish ponds in Brgy. Tabucan and San Rafael in Mandurriao. It is very accessible to Diversion Road and is located in between big commercial developments – Smallville Complex and SM City Iloilo. The whole area from Kapideco to the Old Airport Strip (Megaworld Site) is envisioned to be Iloilo City’s next Central Business District. KAPIDECO is also the home of Ateneo de Iloilo’s new campus, which is already near completion.

Iloilo Updates August 2009 Part 2 – Ateneo de Iloilo, Smallville, Calinog …

Despite the global financial crisis, Iloilo continues to enjoy a healthy dose of new developments showing the economic resiliency of this part of the globe. Part two of this month’s update reveals developments in Iloilo City (Ateneo de Iloilo, Smallville, newly opened and proposed projects) and two towns in Central Iloilo Province.

Ateneo de Iloilo shaping up. The proposed main campus of Ateneo de Iloilo – Santa Maria Catholic School sits in a 7.5-hectare campus in Brgy. San Rafael, Mandurriao. The facility, valued at P200M, is already taking its shape and is expected to be partly operational by the end of this year.

Project Details: The proposed main campus of Ateneo de Iloilo – Santa Maria Catholic School sits in a 7.5-hectare campus in Brgy. San Rafael, Mandurriao. The facility, valued at P200M, is currently under works and will be partly operational in 2009.

Two of the seven hectares was donated by Kauturan Pison Development Foundation (Kapideco) while the five will be purchased by Ateneo de Iloilo. The Pisons also donated a half-hectare lot for the construction of the Santa Maria Parish.

Diversion Road December 2007 Updates

The Diversion Road area is one of the most active growth areas outside the City Proper or Downtown District of Iloilo City.
After the coming of SM City Mall, more and more investments have been pouring into the area, clearing out hectares of what used to be salt beds and fishponds. Here’s a rundown of current construction activities along Diversion Road (also included are projects in nearby Brgy. San Rafael and Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao).

New Philippine Airline Office

After the closure of the old domestic airport in Mandurriao, PAL has acquired a building beside SM City and is currently renovating it for their new office in the City.

Ateneo de Iloilo-SMCS celebrates Jubilee Year for the Founding Fathers

Santa Maria Catholic School now bears Ateneo de Iloilo as principal name of the educational institution founded by the early Jesuit companions in the Society of Jesus- Francis Xavier, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and Blessed Peter Faber, whose Jubilee Year was celebrated last July 31, 2006 at the school’s auditorium and activity area. The event, as part of the commemoration of the 450th and 500th anniversary of the founding Fathers, was attended by Atenean alumni, donors and benefactors of the school, prominent guests and local political figures. A mass was held first followed by a dinner which was opened with a fervent prayer from Fr. Edwin U.
