Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival 2011 Schedule

Clear up your schedules on the second week of February and head on over to Iloilo City for a fun experience at the Paraw Regatta Festival 2011. Now on its 39th year, the Iloilo Paraw Regatta is the oldest traditional craft event in Asia, and the largest sailing event in the Philippines.

Over the years, Iloilo Paraw Regatta has grown from a half-day sailboat race into a week long multi-event festival that it is now. Side events include the Iloilo Paraw Slalom, Miss Iloilo Paraw Regatta, Pinta de Layag Competition, Pinta Tawo Competition, Miniature Paraw Race, Rowing and Paddling Competition, Governor’s Cup Fishing Competition, Samba de Regatta, Beach Football Tournament, and the Beach Volleyball Tournament, Luces by the Sea (Fireworks Display).

Paraw Regatta 2011 Guide

Now on its 39th year, the Iloilo Paraw Regatta is the oldest traditional craft event in Asia, and the largest sailing event in the Philippines. Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival aims to celebrate the skills of the paraw sailors, and bring a fiesta spirit into their lives. And with the colorful painted sails, this spirit is brought into the lives of participants and tourists as well.

The main highlight of the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival is the thirty-kilometer distance sailing race on a course in the Iloilo Strait, running up the coast of Panay and then down the coast of Guimaras, before returning to the finish at Villa Beach.

Guimaras Manggahan Festival 2010 – All you can eat Mangoes!

Island Province of Guimaras- Home of the Manggahan Festival is now ready for celebration on April 11-18, 2010. The weeklong festival will showcase various events that every tourists and guests will enjoy. These include the jumpstart event at Robinsons Mall: Manggahan sa Robinsons on April 5-8, 2010 with an opening ceremony and Guimaras booth- displaying province’ bests and finest. Stunning beauties of Mutya ng Guimaras will be witnessed on April 8 as they showcase their casual wears.

Semana sang Iloilo kag Guimaras 2010 slated on March 28 – April 11

To commemorate its 108th anniversary, the Iloilo Provincial Government in cooperation with the Province of Guimaras will be holding a two week celebration filled with various events from March 28 to April 11, 2010. Dubbed as “Semana sang Iloilo kag Guimaras,” the event also coincides with the Holy Week rites.

Aliwan Fiesta 2010 Schedule

The Aliwan Fiesta stage will be set again in Manila this April 22-24 2010 for the annual gathering of the Philippines’ biggest and best festivals. During the main highlights, spectators will be able to experience the colorful festivals coming from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Aside from being showcase of tourism in the Philippines, the Aliwan Fiesta is also features a street dance competition, where performing groups battle it out to win the Aliwan Championship title. For the Aliwan Fiesta 2010, Iloilo will be sending two groups: Tribu Paghidaet of the Dinagyang Festival, Iloilo City and Tribu Kasag of the Kasag Festival of Banate, Iloilo Province.

Miagao Salakayan 2010 Festival Schedule

The Salakayan festival of Miagao is held every first week of February. Salakayan, coined from a Hiligaynon term “salakay” or to “attack” is a week long celebration that merges merry making and the arts, lore and customs of the town.

The highlight of this presentation is the "Salakayan Contest" – a street drama and dancing depicting the victorious battle of the local defenders against the moro marauders who frequently attack the shorelines of Miag-ao and divest the people of their belongings.

The Salakayan Festival embodies the rich culture and history of the people of Miag-ao which need to be preserved in the present times.

Now on its 38th year, the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival is a race among seafarers on colorful sailboats called Paraws in the straits between Guimaras Island and the city of Iloilo.
