Deco’s and Mang Inasal restaurants to open in Amigo Mall – 04/10 Update

Deco’s La Paz Batchoy and Mang Inasal, two of Iloilo’s well received home-grown restaurants are expanding in Amigo Mall along Delgado St. It is a surprising development since both shops already have existing branches in the near vicinity. Barely a few minute’s walk is another branch of Deco’s and two other Mang Inasal branches.

Mang Inasal is the Philippines’ fastest growing fast food chain with more than 180 branches located in most of the major urban centers of the country. In 2003, Mang Inasal opened its first branch in Robinsons Place Iloilo. It is targeting to opened more than 300 stores by 2012.

Jaro and La Paz Districts are not spared by the pattern of new developments sprouting all over the city. This is just the beginning for Jaro and La Paz because after the completion of the Iloilo Flood Control Project next year, vast land areas will be opened up to accommodate bigger investments in these flood prone districts of Iloilo City.

Here’s a roundup of soon to open restaurants and coffeeshops this month. It seems the food scene in Iloilo is in the upswing. There have been an upsurge of new food shops in the city this year ranging from locally owned businesses to national and international franchises.

Afrique’s Smallville Branch

Afrique’s is a popular Italian restaurant in Iloilo because of their good food and affordable prices. They will be opening their new branch in Smallville (although, I still do not know where exactly) to add to their existing branches in Jaro (near Jaro Big Market), Molo (Hotel del Rio), and General Hughes St. (near Plaza Libertad).

The Port of Bacolod is a major seaport and has daily ferry trips to Iloilo City. By boat, Bacolod City is 18 hours from the Port of Manila and 45 minutes from the Port of Iloilo. By land, Bacolod City is approximately 3 hours from Iloilo City via Dumangas route.
