Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2011 Schedule

Be prepared this weekend to witness the whole City of Iloilo revel during the Dinagyang Festival 2011.

Experience an explosion of sound, color, and dance.

The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural celebration in Iloilo City held on the fourth Sunday of January, the week after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan.

The Dinagyang Festival is held both to honor the Santo Nino and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.

Thousands trooped to SM City and outlying areas in Mandurriao to watch the Luces in the Sky Fireworks Display and Contest during the Dinagyang 2010. 20 entries from all over the Country wowed spectators during the 2-night pyrotechnics showdown to witness fireworks display shows from different participating groups from all over the Country.

2nd Luces in the Sky – Iloilo Dinagyang Fireworks Competition 2009

More than a hundred thousand spectators trooped to SM City Iloilo for the 2nd Luces in the Sky – Iloilo Dinagyang Fireworks Competition on January 23 and 24, 2009. This year, the 19 entries coming from different parts of the country were able to keep traffic along Diversion Road to a standstill for two hours Friday and Saturday night. It was yet another successful Iloilo Dinagyang Festival this 2009, which was held last week. Here are the results of the major competitions namely, the Kasadysahan, Dinagyang Ati, and Luces in the Sky – Iloilo PyroOlympics.

3 nights of fireworks displays this Dinagyang Festival 2009

Watch the Iloilo night sky light up with colorful explosions this Dinagyang Festival 2009 for three consecutive nights. On January 23 (7pm) at the SM City Iloilo Carpark, a national fireworks competition named “Luces in the Sky,” will held. Unlike the 4-hour neck stiffening Luces in the Sky last year, the event will be divided into two parts. The second part will be continued the next night (on January 24, still at the SM City Iloilo Carpark).

Luces in the Sky – Nationwide Fireworks Contest and Iloilo’s First Pyro Olympics

More than 50,000 came to watch the first pyro olympics to be held in Iloilo City. The event, which took place during the Dinagyang Festival on January 26, 2007 had SM City as the judging area. Not only was the parking lot of SM City jam packed, most people, who wanted to watch the grand fireworks contest, trooped to surrounding areas such as the open field of Brgy. San Rafael, the Old Airport Lot (now owned by Megaworld), and Smallville.
