Smallville Complex is a popular dining and nightlife destination in Iloilo where Ilonggos and visitors go to eat, drink, and spend a fun night out in the city. The term Smallville originally refers to the row of restaurants, bars, and clubs beside Iloilo Business Hotel but due to several expansions in the area, it now refers to the whole complex.

Photo Update! The Avenue Complex Iloilo (May 2011)

The Avenue Complex located along Glicerio Pison Avenue, Mandurriao (beside Ayala Technohub) is now fully occupied with the entry of new restaurants and bars. Completed in 2009, owners have taken keen attention to maintain a good (mid to high class) tenant mix in the Avenue, which was planned to be the premiere dining and entertainment center in the Smallville area. Recently opened shops include Mr. Crab and Co. (Seafood Restaurant), Terra (Mediterranean), E-Games (Internet-based Casino), Bourbon Street (Southwest American), and The Venue (Function Rooms).

Current tenants also include Coffee Break, Nothing but Desserts, Bauhinia (Filipino Fusion), Mojave (Southwest American), Amalfi (Italian), and Aura (Club). Clear up your schedules on the second week of February and head on over to Iloilo City for a fun experience at the Paraw Regatta Festival 2011. Now on its 39th year, the Iloilo Paraw Regatta is the oldest traditional craft event in Asia, and the largest sailing event in the Philippines.

Over the years, Iloilo Paraw Regatta has grown from a half-day sailboat race into a week long multi-event festival that it is now. Side events include the Iloilo Paraw Slalom, Miss Iloilo Paraw Regatta, Pinta de Layag Competition, Pinta Tawo Competition, Miniature Paraw Race, Rowing and Paddling Competition, Governor’s Cup Fishing Competition, Samba de Regatta, Beach Football Tournament, and the Beach Volleyball Tournament, Luces by the Sea (Fireworks Display).

Be prepared this weekend to witness the whole City of Iloilo revel during the Dinagyang Festival 2011.

Experience an explosion of sound, color, and dance.

The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural celebration in Iloilo City held on the fourth Sunday of January, the week after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan.

The Dinagyang Festival is held both to honor the Santo Nino and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.

New Max’s Restaurant along Diversion Road – Iloilo 04/10 Updates

Known for their tender, juicy and crispy chicken, a new Max’s Restaurant will be plopping up along Diversion Road beside Joey’s Pepperoni in “Stoplight/Flyover area.” Currently, the other branches of Max’s are located in SM City, and SM Delgado Annex. It is rumored that the SM Delgado branch will just be moving into this new location.
