The terminal fee in the Iloilo Airport has been increased to P200 from P30 effective February 4, 2009. The terminal fee increase was implemented after review by the CAAP Committee on Fees and Charges and public hearings deemimg the move “fair and resonable.”
The terminal fee increase will cover the maintenance expenses of the “international standard” airport. It was discovered earlier that the P30 terminal fee was insufficient in paying for the monthly electric bill of the airport among other maintenance costs.
Ahay , mayo nalang na, may collection sila, mahal mahal pa na abi ang pagpatindog sini, 30 pesos kada tao , di pa gani kabayad koryete , dpat lang eh no, hope that money will go for improvement not for commisions, tani this year maka aquire na sila international flight, damo illonggo ga byahe ngaa di pa da be magstart? daw pigado ang management haw? daw maunahan pa sang Kalibo, nano na na kuno, abi ko gincontsruct naman ang railway da? anu natabo daw nalimtan na haw? sugid lang. dapat airport, railway kay seaport ang pagaimprove man para mas effective ang mga plan sa pag uswag. nice site and new iloilo airport, if magdamo pa ang mga flight da, baw sos nalang daw naia ehh. and ma aquire pagid nila da mga kilid sang ila location samtang bago ppalang nga wala pa damo pamalay.
well as a concerned citizen, I too am surprised of how the terminal fees increased in iloilo airport, sana 100 to 150 na lang kasi mhirap lang kami.
But i guess its reasonable naman for the airport authorities to demand such price if they already had a review in the CAB about their financial prospects.I understand their grieve.malay mo, baka pati mga mechanics dyan sa terminal my increase of salary.haha.contact nyo ko kung may opening dyan for an aircraft mechanic ha…hehe…
Well, for some people who rely so much on seat sales to be able to come home more frequent like me, this is a bit too much. The increase is almost 700%!!! And they should have informed people earlier because many were surprised that they now had to pay 200 instead of just 30!
Sana lang 100 pesos lang, sobrang laki ng itinaas! There are many ways to increase funds for proper airport maintenance/operation such as from airline companies instead of crippling the masses.
The terminal fee increase is justifiable and now at par with Manila and Davao airports’ fee (didn’t remember how much i paid in Cebu) but the people should be rest assured that the astronomical increase will only be used for the proper operation of the airport and convenience of the passengers – not to the pocket of advantageous officials. Btw, only in third countries like ours these fees are being collected, which is quite strange to tourists :)
I think that increase the way it is described and advertised as of international standard and fairly brand new is worth it as long as it is for what it is intended to be that is for maintenance expenses, etc… and not for nobody’s pocket. And good thinking on the part of the committee to have it increased earlier so the maintenance people will have interest in making sure the airport stays as fresh, clean and ready at all times. I have never been there but seen what it is like in pictures and it makes sense to increase its terminal fees.
Pardon me, I stand corrected! P200 lang gali, indi 300 as I mentioned in my comment below. P100 extra tip sa kargador, hehehe! That reminded me last time at the international departure, we’re required to pay P700 for the terminal fee. I gave P1,000 ($26) tip to the kargador. Jackpot gid sya, he melted my heart away as he told me how difficult life there with a family. Basi stroke nya lang but he seemed to be sincere. Besides, I have to get rid of my Philippine money before leaving. Why not make someone happy especially after the new year celebration! It’s only money anyways!
The P200 is an acceptable fee for using such a nice terminal. It’s not everyday that most of us will use the airport anyways.
no objection too…its recommended. supposedly it was implemented right after the first flight.
Boy, am I ever lucky I didn’t have to pay 300 pesos when I was there last December! Kidding aside, that fee is badly needed for the maintenance of the airport. No objection to it whatsoever, as long as the money be used for its intended purpose. No dirty tricks!!!
