Tigbauan Roman Catholic Church

The Tigbauan Church is unique in the country because of its Latin American churriquesque architecture. The church was constructed in 1575 and destroyed during an earthquake in 1948.
Tigbauan’s facade is style in the Mexican plateresque. At the center is a seal of the Augustinian order surrounded by a retablo-like floral frieze, which fills the central section. Above the seal is a niche flanked by pilasters embellished with flowers and upon it is a depiction of San Juan. Capping the relief is the image of Santo Niño

The church interior was gutted during the Second World War. Today, it has one of the most beautiful modern-type interiors made up of colorful stone murals. The mosaics adorning the church interior, including the altar and the Stations of the Cross, were created by a local artist in the last two decades.

so interesting and magnificent. it is also historical and the center of missionary activities during the spanish times. probably blessed Pedro Calungsod studied in the school for the cathechists on this parochia that once host to the first school for boys….i.e cathechists that sent to Guam and other places in the asia-pacific region.

Tigbauan is the best place for me kasi syempre dun ako lumaki at im proud to be a tigbauena..
madaming beach dinadayo talaga ng mga taga city para dun mag outing and kahit hindi sya white sand pero maganda pa din at pati yung service nung mga tao very hopitable at friendly.
habang tumatagal ang daming improvements talaga. gumanda yung plaza. syempre im proud to say at hindi makakaila na tigbauan church is one of the beautiful churches here in the philipppines. try to see the paintings lahat mosaic. sobrang creative. ang gaan ng feeling pag nakakapasok sa church kasi mas nakakaisip ako ng maayos.
kaya kahit nandito ako sa manila nakakamiss pa din yung buhay diyan and kahit siguro maka pag asawa ako babalik at babalik ako sa pinanggalian ko. “nahidlaw nako sa imo tigbauan†means to say i miss you tigbauan..
GO TIGBAUAN!

Over the last 2 decades,so much has been poured for the improvement of our old church. Thanks for the relentless efforts and unending support of each tigbauenos who contributed in the realization of that dream. Our church is truly unique and historical. With that, I take pride and joy in my roots.Inside the church, there is a feeling of peace and surrender to God because everywhere I look my eyes are directed to the amazing work of art on the walls and ceilings which make me reflect on how great God is. I learned about the proposed renovation of our old bellfry when i went home 2 months ago. I am hoping everyone will join hands once again to come up with a new belfry.MABUHAY! SAN JUAN DE SAHAGUN PARISH…

i,ve been in paoay church lately seeing how the unesco included paoay church in world heritage list. cguro di nakapagtataka kasi buo pa ito.
