University of San Agustin

3660125004 b89087ee35 University of San Agustin

The University of San Agustin is a private university in Iloilo City, the Philippines founded in 1904 by the Augustinian Friars under the inspiration of St. Augustine, Doctor and Father of the Church. The University of San Agustin (USA) has continued the rich legacy of scholarship exemplified by St. Augustine, the Library of the Church; Fr. Johann Gregor Mendel, O.S.A., the First Geneticist; and Fr. Manuel Blanco, O.S.A., author of Flora de Filipinas. The university is named in honor of fourth century saint Augustine of Hippo, a key figure in the doctrinal development of Western Christianity and a Doctor of the Church.

The university’s campus, situated in the very heart of the city on General Luna Street, has a modern gymnasium, an auditorium, several conference and seminar rooms, science, computer and speech laboratories, a museum, a bookstore, a library, an instructional media center, and tennis and badminton courts. The university has a diverse student population. Over the years, school enrollment has dramatically increased, resulting in the decision to move the high school department to a new campus in the suburbs of Sambag, Jaro in June 1995.

REALLY! WHAT IS IT THAT YOU SHOULD BE PROOUD OOF?

To be a graduate is in itself an honor….much more if you finished from a reputable school such as San Agustin. Why Paul, are you not proud of your school?

I am mighty happy and proud to be a BS in Medical Technology graduate of the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City. We are always represented in national board exam placers, with several of us ranking first. I, myself, was among those in the top when I took the board exams. After a few years of teaching at the University’s Phar.-Med. Tech., I went to the United States for further training. I graduated first in our class, with the distinction of being the only one — ever — to have a perfect score in clinical chemistry final exams. Right after graduation, I passed two national licensure exams, on top of the exam for the license to practice in the State of California. Cap that with being a clinical laboratory scientist in the number-one-ranked hospital in the United States for the almost twenty years in a row now — The Johns Hopkins Hospital — and I can only trace all these back to my being an Augustinian. This is not to brag, but to state the facts with respect to my gratitude to San Agustin, reason enough to be so mighty proud and happy for my Augustinian upbringing. Perhaps this fully answers your bewilderment, Paul.

God!!! Mu ni napabugal nyo? Yes, some excel. But others don’t. :-)

Well USA really has graduates taht excel in the board exam. But, it doesn’t mean that your beloved Alma Mater is better than the rest. You might have courses offered which are not available in other schools but other Universitites in general are far-off better than you. Peace.
