By Marcos Detourista on October 3, 2014Ilonggos and visitors have begun to see buildings shaping up at the Iloilo Business Park, Megaworld’s exciting P35B re-development of the old Iloilo Airport site into the country’s biggest business and tourism hubs.Judging from the recent height in construction activity at the site, many of the buildings seem on track to be completed before Iloilo’s hosting of two high level meetings of the 2015 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on September 2015.Here are some photo updates of ongoing construction at the Iloilo Business Park including the 3,700-seating Iloilo Convention Center, 15-storey Courtyard Hotel by Marriott Iloilo, 14-storey Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, upcoming BPO Office Buildings, Megaworld Center Mall, 1.1-kilometer Festive Walk, and upcoming luxury condominium towers.Iloilo Convention CenterThe 2-storey convention center had topped off. Two months ago (last week of September), they reached construction on the third level of the building. Now, the building has risen to its seventh floor. StarTek, a Colorado-based BPO firm, is currently having their temporary office at the Richmonde Tower, which occupies the 2nd to 6th floors of the building.The Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Richmonde Tower is expected to open in the first quarter of 2015.Richmonde Hotel IloiloBPO Office BuildingsTwo 4-storey office buildings catering to Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies, namely, One Global Center and Two Global Center, are currently under construction at the Iloilo Business Park.Startek will be transferring to their final location at Two Global Center by October this year and is set to hold their official inauguration on October 24. Startek is one of the leading BPO firms in the Philippines, with call centers located throughout the US, Latin America, Canada, Honduras, and Costa Rica. It will be the first company to open at the Iloilo Business Park.A number of tenants have already confirmed setting up shop at the commercial spaces on the ground floor of Two Global Center. They include a convenient store and “one of our favorite coffee places.”One Global Center, on the other and, will be finished by December of this year.Last June, during the opening of the stand alone branch of McDonald’s at the Iloilo Business Park, Megaworld confirmed that it will start construction of two additional 4-storey BPO office buildings this year. The Megaworld Center Mall is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015.Site of Megaworld Center Mall fenced up.Festive WalkThe 1.1 kilometer Festive Walk, which is envisioned to become one of the longest shopping and dining strips in the country, is also under construction. It is expected to be finished in the first half of 2016.Site of the Festive Walk.Ongoing construction of the Festive Walk.Condominium TowersWith the recent unveiling of The Palladium, Megaworld had confirmed its plans of constructing at least five luxury condominium towers at the Iloilo Business Park namely, 10-storey Towers One, Two, and Three of One Madison Place, 14-storey Lafayette Park Square, and the 22-storey The Palladium. Completion and turn over of units is set by 2017 for One Madison Place and 2018 for both Lafayette Park Square and The Palladium.As of this month, groundworks have already begun at the site of One Madison place.To recap, condominium units at the first two towers of One Madison Place was announced as “sold out” less than six months after the project started pre-selling. This overwhelming demand for condominiums in Iloilo inspired Megaworld to announce its plans of launching the third tower of One Madison Place, and then Lafayette Park Square.Limited availability of condo units and the consistent rise of demand at the Iloilo Business Park may have prompted the company to reveal its plans of constructing its newest residential project — The Palladium, a 22-storey luxury condominium tower poised to become the city’s tallest residential building.The Palladium will have a total of 482 residential units and exclusive loft units at the top floor.
