The people thought that way, not because they are rooting for their hometown representative, but according to the presentation itself. The competition believe to have been corrupted by an outsider, and Scorpion was sold out by their fellow Ilonggos. Scorpion will proudly admit defeat as long as it was just and fair, just like last 2008 when they won third place. And to answer the injustice of last years competition, Scorpion proved themselves by winning the Enchanted Kingdom 2009 Sky Wizard Fireworks Competition, one of the country’s prestigious pyro competition, last Oct 24. Scorpion team spent great effort, time and money, but that effort was not rewarded fairly, instead they felt betrayed. So as long as the future Dinagyang Pyro Competition will not be conducted fairly, we may not likely to see Scorpion participating on the said event. It is a dismay for every Ilonggo that they will not see they’re very own pride grab the glory on their own territory, having an outsider corrupting their own event, and sold out by fellow Illongos. We have to remember that Dinagyang is now a very pretigous event, known to be Best Tourism Event in the Philippines for four consecutive years. Thus, the new distinction has been given as “Dinagyang Festival in the Hall of Fame.†Hopefully, this issue of a one part event such as the pyro competition will not put shame to the name of Dinagyang.
