SM City Iloilo Transport Terminal and Traveller’s Lounge

Expansion of SM City Iloilo, the city’s largest mall, is starting to take shape. Its transport terminal, which was transferred to its current location in front of the main building, had already started operations early this week. The new and bigger Traveller’s Lounge is scheduled to open on September 29, 2014.

Over at Downtown Iloilo (City Proper District), Phase Two of the construction of the 12-storey Grand Imperial Hotel is ongoing. Construction works are now on the second floor of the building. Phase One, which included a 10-storey hotel building, had already topped off.

The upcoming Grand Imperial Hotel is located on the corner of Iznart and H. Montinola Streets, beside the Imperial Megashowroom.

Meanwhile, exterior works on the restoration of the Old Iloilo Provincial Capitol (Casa Real) building looks completed. They may still be working on the interiors, which will have marble flooring with medallions as center pieces, and adorned with Tuscan columns, smooth plastered walls, chandeliers, and other elements dating back to Iloilo’s colonial period. The Old Iloilo Provincial Capitol is regarded as one of the city’s most important historical and cultural landmarks.
