The Aliwan Fiesta is the ultimate stage of the biggest and grandest festivals in the Philippines. Winners of the major festivals throughout the islands would converge in Manila during the Aliwan Fiesta to showcase the colorful culture of their hometown.The 3-day Aliwan 2009 will open on April 23 with a product showcase of all participating towns and a concert at night. The Reyna ng Aliwan Pageant Night will then be held the next day. Held on the last day (25th) is the street dance competition, the main highlight of the Aliwan Fiesta, where spectators get to experience a non-stop explosion of color, sound, culture, and synchronized movement. The parade will start in Aliw Theater at 4:00pm and end in the Quirino Grandstand.This Aliwan 2009, Iloilo will be sending two contingents to battle it out with the Philippines best for the Aliwan 2009 Championship Title. They are:Tribu Paghidaet, winner of the Ati Competition during the Dinagyang Festival 2009Tribu Kasag of Banate, winner of the Kasadyahan Competition during the Dinagyang Festival 2009There’s also some unconfirmed news that the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival will be joining the Aliwan 2009 as a non-competing group. The reigning Miss Iloilo Paraw Regatta 2009, Ann Rency Custodio is also rumored to compete for the Reyna ng Aliwan 2009.
