It is one of best showcases of the city’s efforts to rehabilitate and protect the Iloilo River and promote active lifestyles. It is also a popular tourist spot where visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll and enjoy the serene views along the river. The best time to visit the is during the early morning and late afternoon hours when the sun is low and the sky glows with the romantic soft twilight. Locals usually go to the esplanade around this time for a hearty jog or to hang out with friends and family in coffee shops and restaurants nearby.A nice walking tour for visitors starts with a visit to Molo Church, then a lengthy sunset walk along the esplanade, which may be capped with a hearty meal and drinks at Smallville or Atria Park District. The Iloilo Esplanade can be easily reached by taxis and jeepneys. It has two main entrances. The eastern end is located along Diversion Road (Benigno Aquino Avenue) in Mandurriao district. You can get there by jeepney on these routes: Leganes, SM Mandurriao, Ungka UI, City Proper, and Santa Barbara. From those coming from Smallville or Atria Park District, take a shortcut through the footpath in Riverside Boardwalk. Near the west end is Carpenter’s Bridge located on the boundary of Molo and Mandurriao. You can take the Molo Mandurriao or Oton jeepney routes to get there. This side is a 5-minute walk from Molo Church and Molo Plaza.Hotels & Places to Stay NearbyHotel Del RioMolo, Iloilo CityMid-RangePeaceful and relaxing views beside the Iloilo RiverCheck RatesInjap Tower HotelDiversion Road, Iloilo CityValue-for-money with a view overlooking the city’s new business districtsCheck RatesIloilo Business HotelSmallville, Iloilo CityMid-RangeCheck RatesMO2 Westown Hotel IloiloSmallville, Mandurriao, Iloilo CityTop notch rooms and excellent amenitiesCheck RatesUrban Sands IloiloMolo, Iloilo CityBeach-themed hotel on a quiet corner of Molo.Check RatesSmallville21 HotelSmallville Complex, Iloilo CityComfort and style. HALA BIRA ILOILO!Reply reyhard saysJanuary 7, 2010 at 11:35 pmthe reason why some people criticize this so called Iloilo Boulevard is because it’s not totally called boulevard..the road project was not totally curve base on river ladnscape..siguro may gin paboran gin man nga mga private ownersReply ronnie saysJanuary 13, 2010 at 12:03 amwhy hadn’t the local government done something about it?Reply ronnie saysJanuary 13, 2010 at 12:11 amWould have been nicer had they only followed the shape of the river. reyhard saysJanuary 7, 2010 at 11:21 pmor much better i extend pa gid asta sa Oton with both side of the river being dredge..Reply Ronnie saysJanuary 8, 2010 at 3:42 amWell, in that case, they surely have to see to it that the depth of the water level during low tide could still suffice the weight of the boat and the passengers. Basi bala maguot…hahaha….Reply Ronnie saysJanuary 7, 2010 at 11:54 amIt will be a big boom to the Iloilo River should this spectacular project be realized. Feeling mo nasa Vienna ka lang….heheheReply Marcos C. saysJanuary 6, 2010 at 11:38 pmI liked the idea of the river cruise also.I hope the limit it to pedestrians too. It’s currently a great breathing space in the city and gets a bit crowded during late afternoons.Reply Ronnie saysJanuary 7, 2010 at 7:05 amIt would be an excellent idea to open up a passenger cruise from Gaisano City up to Carpenter’s Bridge. Not only could we get rid of the terrible road congestion along Gen. Luna Street down to Molo – a cause of major delay; we can as well shorten the travel time while cruising along the beautiful newly constructed Iloilo BoulevardReply Marcos C. saysJanuary 7, 2010 at 11:38 amBetter yet extend it to all the way to Muelle Loney so that visitors would be able to embark/disembark in front of the Iloilo Customs Building / Aduana. eva saysJanuary 15, 2010 at 8:23 pmthats is so cool…i havent been back in iloilo for quite sometime the last time ive there, i dont think that boulevard has finish…theres no place like iloilo i love that city!!!!!im so proud that they have done something beautiful to that city….ive been wishing that to happen eversince….hi everyone from iloilo!!!!!the land of the smile!!!!!Reply Lee saysJanuary 6, 2010 at 10:07 pmFinally, nahuman guid man ang Iloilo Riverside Blvd. bah. Hopefully, it will be strictly for pedestrians ONLY. This project opens up other exciting possibilities/activities around Iloilo River. Thanks for the update, Marcos.Reply Ronnie Calumpita saysJanuary 6, 2010 at 4:49 pmGood project, another tourist attraction for Iloilo, more to come, like a river cruise.Reply
