HomeIloiloIloilo CityLapazLa Paz BatchoyMust Try Signature Dish of IloiloLa Paz Batchoy is one of Iloilo’s best-known signature dishes and a must-try delicacy served in restaurants all over Iloilo City. This noodle soup is made with miki, (round noodles), pork organs (liver, spleen, kidneys and heart), chicken stock, beef loin, shrimp stock, and garnished with chicharon (pork cracklings). It is best eaten at the batchoyan (batchoy stalls) in La Paz Market where it originated. The most famous places to eat batchoy are Ted’s, Deco’s, Netong’s, and Inggo’s. The “original” creator of the dish is not certain, but you may judge for yourself which among them serves the tastiest. When served with a bowl of batchoy, most Ilonggos would finish the kaldo (broth) first. It is customary to request additional refills of kaldo before finishing the meal.Iloilo Hotels & Places to Stay near La Paz MarketUrban InnLa Paz, Iloilo CityBudgetCheap & Comfortable Rooms in La PazCheck RatesGrand Dame HotelLa Paz, Iloilo CityEuropean-inspired hotel with courteous staffCheck RatesCasa la GranjaLa Paz, Iloilo CityMid-RangeCheck RatesDon’t leave yet. The Teds Batchoy here in Bacolod is not as good as the Teds in Iloilo.Reply Sandog saysOctober 26, 2007 at 5:49 amAll of you health conscious nuts forget all the artery clogging stuff…enjoy what you eat as long as it’s in moderation. It’s not everyday that you eat batchoy…enjoy ng enjoy. I still remember my first time at Ted’s in 1972.Reply tagadiya saysAugust 13, 2007 at 12:50 pmI guess Ted’s is starting to address that right now by introducing another “original”…the 100% beef batchoy…the taste is absolutely the best and since it is beef, though not totally cholesterol free, it is less artery clogging than the original pork based concoction hehehe I also just happen to know that the Miswa,Bihon, and Sotanghon Batchoy variants are “original” innovations of Ted’s Oldtimer.Reply girly saysMay 6, 2007 at 4:28 amkorek la dyan Nanette.it’s d trans fat that is floating, salt and msg that makes it yummy but yea we should develop that awareness and be health conscious coz health will be compromise d and it’s better if they have another menu of noodles that is non-fattening and am pretty sure seniors and mid adults will look for that now that hypertension and high cholesterol is common among filipinos..Reply NanetteM saysMay 4, 2007 at 11:05 amLa paz batchoy sounds yummy…havent been home for about 9 yrs… june…here i come.. i am looking forward…i justwish there is an option for a bathoy catered to the healthy conscious / and aged population…say low fat, esp no fat of pork and internal organs, and …no msg…Reply JOY saysApril 24, 2007 at 6:32 amMy God!..Teds Lapaz Batchoy is the number one in the City of Iloilo.
