HomeIloiloIloilo ProvinceSouthern IloiloMiagaoMiagao Cemetery: A heritage destination By ExploreIloilo.com. Updated on July 8, 2015.The Miagao cemetery located at Bgy. Baybay Norte (formerly Cota Baybay) houses an exceptional capilla or funerary chapel. In olden times, masses were held here on All Saint’s Day, Sundays and other important feast days. Its capilla is octagonal in shape and is made of limestone and red bricks. Perhaps its most distinct feature is its all brick dome, how the people were able to build it using crude tools and made it to last until now is a great feat in itself. There are ruins found within the Cemetery Grounds, some say it is a from pre-hispanic structure but it has not yet been verified. The Miagao Cemtery is approximately 2 kilometers or a 5 minute tricycle ride from the Miagao Public Plaza.
