HomeIloiloUniversity of San Agustin By ExploreIloilo.com. Updated on July 8, 2015.The University of San Agustin is a private university in Iloilo City, the Philippines founded in 1904 by the Augustinian Friars under the inspiration of St. Augustine, Doctor and Father of the Church. The University of San Agustin (USA) has continued the rich legacy of scholarship exemplified by St. Augustine, the Library of the Church; Fr. Johann Gregor Mendel, O.S.A., the First Geneticist; and Fr. Manuel Blanco, O.S.A., author of Flora de Filipinas. The university is named in honor of fourth century saint Augustine of Hippo, a key figure in the doctrinal development of Western Christianity and a Doctor of the Church. The university’s campus, situated in the very heart of the city on General Luna Street, has a modern gymnasium, an auditorium, several conference and seminar rooms, science, computer and speech laboratories, a museum, a bookstore, a library, an instructional media center, and tennis and badminton courts. The university has a diverse student population. Over the years, school enrollment has dramatically increased, resulting in the decision to move the high school department to a new campus in the suburbs of Sambag, Jaro in June 1995.Academic Units offered by University of San AgustinCollege of Arts and Sciences (1935) Biology (B.S.) There are other corner here also i think of great value to you and it deals with various touristic developments in Iloilo City . You have all the power to give your comments , your opinions ,your thoughts over certain issues, and what you think to improve as a critic.Reply Vic saysJanuary 19, 2012 at 5:44 pm@Defender and Villaflor.. I guess its very nonsensical and illogical to ascribed the harlotry that sorrounds over San Agustin Area. If one thing Agustinians should know is their very own Saint to where the university is named after. He shared the same experience as he was trying to fight for the urge of his sinful lust. That must be the driving-principle yet he said ” Chastity, But not yet”, whatever whoredom going on, Do not attached it to the University defender/villaflorReply the DEFENDER saysJanuary 19, 2012 at 9:07 pmnosebleed man ta buh. okay ah.. haha. sabagay may point kaw… thanks for the enlightenment. nadala lang sang emotions comments ko. well… move on ah.Reply Vic saysJanuary 19, 2012 at 3:20 pm@ Defender, while Godofredo is entitled to his opinion he has no right to trash other schools and both of you are called to uphold civility in speech whatever schools you came from. He must have been instigating and initiated trouble by himself , let the trouble ends the time when he ends his rant. responding to his inflammatory post only perpetuates the clash . It is no way painting your school a good name , if thats what you both wanted. Decency does not come from school. It’s from our Will influenced by various factors defender.Reply KOMENTUS saysJanuary 19, 2012 at 12:09 pmPAINT THE WHOLE UNIVERSE WITH RED AND GOLD!!! As far as the statement “I’m proud to be an Augustinian” is concerned, no one should put a word contrary to that for I know as a student of your own school, you’re so proud to claim as one of the school family. You will know why we keep on saying we are proud to be Augustinians and that is by asking yourself why you are also proud of your school. So it is just ordinary to shout in the world that we are really proud. In the first place, no student will degrade the name of its school even how naughty he is or gruesome his attitude is. Now, why we should be proud of? First, what school here in Iloilo excels in Medtech board exam? Second, what school here in Iloilo offers BS in Pharmacy? Third, what school that has College of education is claimed by the Ched to be the Center of Excellent in Education? Who, by the way, topped in LET? In what university was the College of Law first accredited by PAASCU? Above all, what university withstand the 106 years of challenges? Are those not the reason why we should be proud of? To compare our school to others is not just based on opinion. We still have basis on it. We are not just claiming because we feel so but because we need to!Reply jRON saysAugust 11, 2010 at 12:12 pmProud to be agustinian! iba pa rin ang atmosphere sng campus san agustin compare to others, because agustinians are competent and mga gwapa kg gwapo. hahaha! anyway what are you people doing on USA page huh? if you dont like it?! you are so bitter!! please check your insecurities. hahaha VIVA SAN AGUSTIN!Reply MaLuFheT saysAugust 10, 2010 at 8:27 pmnu kamu man?namian kmu sa san ag?nami gd na da aw?huo eh!!mga mango!!!^_^Reply skype saysJanuary 30, 2011 at 7:51 pmBasta san ag nami gd magtudlo. Gets mo? There are many instances such as in the Board Exam Licensure that USA made it to the top and that’s what precisely makes us proud being an agustinian. We may not be the best but at least, we are better than the others. Why Paul, are you not proud of your school? Nonoy saysOctober 25, 2009 at 2:08 amI am mighty happy and proud to be a BS in Medical Technology graduate of the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City. We are always represented in national board exam placers, with several of us ranking first. I, myself, was among those in the top when I took the board exams. After a few years of teaching at the University’s Phar.-Med. Tech., I went to the United States for further training. I graduated first in our class, with the distinction of being the only one — ever — to have a perfect score in clinical chemistry final exams. Right after graduation, I passed two national licensure exams, on top of the exam for the license to practice in the State of California. Cap that with being a clinical laboratory scientist in the number-one-ranked hospital in the United States for the almost twenty years in a row now — The Johns Hopkins Hospital — and I can only trace all these back to my being an Augustinian. This is not to brag, but to state the facts with respect to my gratitude to San Agustin, reason enough to be so mighty proud and happy for my Augustinian upbringing. Perhaps this fully answers your bewilderment, Paul. Crescen saysOctober 25, 2009 at 2:10 amAmen to all that, Nonoy. ex factor... saysAugust 18, 2010 at 4:24 pmthe best nga university … ga excel xa sex scandal… wahahahaha… xa mga gurls da b nga student.. some of few lang ha.. nd nyo pagpakahuy.e school ta…. Charles Villaflor saysAugust 20, 2010 at 12:50 pm…that scandal has been affecting the university..but then not a good reason to completely degrade the name of our school…in accounting, there is a principle “substance over form”..as the terms imply, substance prevails..to apply to the situation, the girl and that man who did that loathsome thing are Augustinians but just in name..Augustinians in form but in substance no…a real Augustinian is an advocate of St. Augustine-that carries the name of our school. Thus, comment to students who are real Augustinians. They can be considered excluded in our circle…Cheer up Augustinians! Don’t be listless because of that scandalous act..Just keep soaring high… kenito saysApril 7, 2010 at 12:35 pmshut up dude.
